Can anyone tell me what I have to do to get my 3105 unlocked?
I have rang and emailed Orange, but they seem less than willing to help.

All suggestions VERY welcome(within reason) lol

Not sure that unlocking it will do you any good. Within Australia, Telstra
(and resellers of Telstra CDMA) refuse to connect Orange handsets to the
Telstra CDMA network.

Recently in the Rocky Telstra shop; half-looking for a Nokia CDMA that would
fit an existing CAR-91 Car Kit. No such joy, and of course, the
reccommendation is to remove the kit for the later model (PITA). I put that
in the too hard basket for the time being....

Telstra tech suggests I might look on EBAY to source another 6385 (same as
mine), but warned me to avoid any that were Orange phones. He said they had
given up trying to get them connected to Telstra. This suggests to me it
isnt the shops that are blocking it, but the techs further up the food
chain... I got the impression this Telstra tech would be happy to connect
ex-Orange phones, but couldnt.

Just my thought; could easily be wrong.

the "min" numbers are not changeable between carriers, and can't be
reprogrammed.

Ah, ok its the number that is displayed when you go into a cdma phone and
"show own number", as opposed to the actual mobile number you've had
programmed to use on that phone. Hope that's clearer.

Michael has a problem with people who don't have a total fixation about
mobile phones. Sort of like the brain dead who can't get enough of Big
Brother or Australian Idol.

If you don't know anything about mobiles, the technology involved or the
finer details of the 20 million plans that are out there in the market,
people like him think that you're some kind of retard. And he tells you
so.

He has his good moments. And I have my bad. As we all do.
As an aside, I'm still trying to figure if he was working for one Telco and
has jumped ship.......whereas I'm still happily on it:)

No its not. That will generally be the MDN ( Mobile Directory Number),
which for Telstra is always programmed as 0428707111.

The MIN (Mobile Identification Number) is a an entirely different
beast.

The major reason why a non-telstra phone can not be connected is that
the ESN is not in the telstra system, thus cant be associated with a
service.

If you buy a CDMA phone of e-bay, unless it is a Telstra phone, you
wont be able to use it on the telstra network.

Short answer is you cant.

Long answer is that it does not matter what codes you have - it cant be
done from the handset. Telstra need to add your ESN to their system and
they wont do that in most cases.
