Not sure if this was the best phorum to post in.. but - does anyone know of a good psp pre-order special?

(and if this is infringing on any rules I apologise).

I've seen Big W selling them (pre-order) and you get a kit with headphone, a soft case, 32mb sony stick, a psp (obviously) and a $10 off voucher.

Myer One were offering a hard case if you pre-ordered the PSP. I think Myers offers "BONUS 16 redeemable vouchers featuring savings of up to $400 on PlayStation®Portable and Sony Products".

They all seem to be about $398 kind of mark.

I saw a cool looking ceramic white edition to be released in Japan I think it was.. wonder if skins will be released for them :)

Can't wait to get one and play Burnout!!! :dD

Thread moved to the Gamers Room and no, you aren't breaking any rules. This is the kind of thing that the Gamers section is here for. :)

Thanks :)

On looking round it seems like its pretty standard to get the "Value Pack" if you pre-order it.. but not sure what happens in a normal sale if you get anything other than the headphones!?

the best place to get a PSP is anywhere where you can take your PSP back when you realise it sucks... THEN buy yourself a Nintendo DS... :p

pfft.. Nintendo DS games SUCK!! :dD

Well they did last time I looked at the range. At least I recognise the PSP games coming out. I read something about multiplayer gaming - how you get a spare disc to give to a friend to play multiplayer (ie. a cut down version.. not a full game disc). Does anyone know whether this is the case??

um. that's because the PSP currently has a lot of mini-consoles games. I have a japanese PSP (since launch) and the only thing really worth playing on it is Lumines (and emulated ... um stuff).

You can multiplay via wifi - but note: most games, unlike DS you'd need multiple disc for multiple play (eg.. Ridge Racers + wipeout).

Seriously though, if you pay $80 for the games.. you'd be suckered. Go to ebay and buy a game from the US, this long post launch it'd be at least 20-30 dollars cheaper. Hell, even the games I bought I paid max $50-60.

PSP's are region free (for games so you can buy games from anywhere in the world)

Thanks for the tip - just had a look and as long as you're careful about not getting a game in japanese it should be cheaper getting it off ebay.

This was a cool concept.

Wonder how long it will take for the price of the console to drop in AUS..

Which is pretty much the value pack, is it not? They include a 32mb memory stick too?

I've had the chance to play with a DS for a couple of days without buying one, there is no way I'd fork over my hard earned $ on that piece of crap.

I noticed the myer deal today while partaking in a bit of window shopping, is said 'see the pre-order booklet for more info' but they were all out, and didn't have the time to ask a non existent shop assistant.

no these are EXTRA above what is in the value pack. The value pack does not have a hard protector for the screen or a cigarette charger. The deal with harvey norman is the value pack + these extras, was shown in their latest catalogue

Oooh that could be a goer then! thanks!

I went to myers to try to see the vouchers but they only pre-order booklet they had was the standard one which I picked up from Big W.

I love how EB are advertising that purchasing from there will get you a copy of spider man 2 on umd.. when in fact anyone who buys a PSP and registers it on a particular site gets a free movie (stocks limited).

hmm.. just went here:
http://www.harveynorman.com.au/viewPage.tho?stPg=PSP

and they're only advertising a free lanyard - what the?! Trying to find if they have a downloadable brochure. no brochure to download - wish I'd known before lunch, could have checked out the store in qV :)

Edit - just saw an ad on TV.. they are selling the PSP with the "monster value pack" and free lanyard!

So i guess you dont have one then....or cant afford :)

They are great. Ive got US PSP only paid $249 Canadian for it. Got around 13 games.

ExecutoR you will end up buying one. Just go have a look at Ridge racer on the DS then compare to PSP.

Can we stick to the topic on where to get the best deals for this release and if you want a PSP Vs DS debate, start a new thread.
There are a number of people who are using this thread as a guide on the current deals and it can be frustrating to come look at the lastest update and only find an off topic reply.

Thanks people. :)

Woohoo!! I've now preorderd from Harvey Norman QV - they have 18 preorders!

The extras (on top of the value pack) were a hard cover case, extra set of ear phones (black) and a cigarette charger. I don't know the case will be that great so may end up buying the metal logitech one later on but will do for now. I now have to check out some game reviews :)

Thanks everyone who contributed to this topic!

Edit - oh and a PC data adaptor cable :)

Harvey Norman seems to be the best locally, Lik-sang is the best online if you don't want to wait.

By the time it turned up from Lik-sang now, it would have already been released here.

Have a look at target. One of the catalogues has a bonus pack with it.

I dont mean the value pack.
