Took some time for you to notice Stephen.....the Southern Cross Ten name has
been there for awhile now, since its takeover of Ten Victoria (and other
versions of the Ten brand elsewhere)

Here's some trivia, or useless information for you..

Did you know that the Regional Ten network had a watermark of the Ten logo
in the top right hand corner of the screen, the capital cities didnt have
that. And was totally different from the logo used in the sports coverage.

These days, its in the Bottom left hand corner seen in Capital and rural
areas

While on the Southern Cross Network in radio terms, you didnt put in the
picture of 4BC's, 6PR's and 3AW's sister stations. Those being 4BH, 96fm and
Magic 693. See the simularities in logos mate?

As for 2UE's sister music station? Where are they? And why isnt 1386 in
Sydney been investigated by SCB to grab a spot for a music station for them?

And while we're on the SCB issue....Do 7 Central still have that annoying
"not so watermark" letters of SCB in the top right hand corner still? And is
it necessary to have it there to remind people it's owned by them all the
time during programs?

I've just had a look at that site...First time I've seen the TV logos for
Southern Cross Ten, Southern Cross TV for Tassie...and had no idea 7 Central
was going to be renamed as "Southern Cross TV" (the same as Tasmania Im
guessing, but with different affliliations)

This "new logo" must be a sign of things to come....Was tonight it's launch?
If so...maybe the logo will be rolled out over time...maybe weeks to come

What does this mean for the famous round circle Ten watermark? No....Not the
SCB thing that Central Australia have had in recent times (I hope not
anyway)

But hey...I like the logo, looks new, the colours are great...and there's
that sense of independence from the Capital cities Ten network

Southern Cross Ten have been in Canberra for ages, it is the station
previously knows as Ten Capital.

AFAIK, Ten are not part of SCB, but some of the regional relays (which
use the Ten name and logo) are part of SCB. Ten obviously use some SCB
programming from Southern Star (Big Brother being one example of such
programming).

Hope this clears things up a bit.

the fundamental Southern Cross logo is now integrated into the signage for
all their operations.

This is probably more of a corporate thing to improve their public
recognition, primarily in relation to their share listings.

Southern Cross Broadcasting is MAINLY a TEN affiliate. In those cases
it's called "Southern Cross Ten". They're also a 9 Affiliate (they own
Channel 9 Adelaide), and 7 affiliate (Channel 7 Darwin and 7-Central),
and in Tasmania a 7+10 affiliate.

So has "ten" been renamed in some way? Or just Southern Cross
Broadcasting?

Ext User(Wombat Lover)

I dont think they've been renamed, just a logo upgrade it looks like

Cant confirm if the new logo is being seen on the Tele yet, But the new
radio logos are in use

And the new logo for "Southern Cross TEN" is just for Southern Cross
channels which are TEN affilliates, right? Or has TEN changed too?

Ext User(Daran Murphy)

Has not changed for capital city Tens, just regional owned by Southern Cross

And it will not change for the capitals unless SCB buy Ten...you just
gotta love the confusion these regional affiliates using similar names
creates.

That's why I like Prime & Win, they don't confuse people with their
names...

Gotta feel sorry for the people in Broken Hill, according to the SCB
website..they have two TV channels owned by the company.

1) Southern Cross Ten - Ten affiliate
2) Southern Cross - Seven affiliate

No such thing as Prime these days anymore? (or wasn't there ever?)

Perhaps not in Broken Hill, but here in Canberra it goes
Prime = Seven affiliate
Win = Nine affiliate
Southern Cross Ten = Ten affiliate

Broken hill must be a strange place...especially after a few drinks...

Northern N.S.W.
Southern Cross Ten,across much of the same area ,even up here on The
Gold Coast in competition with the Brisbane Ten and NBN,Prime,7,9
ABC,SBS,very weird stuff, but been SC Ten for at least 4 or 5 years
here?

Parts of SA are worse, where they have "WIN" and "WIN Ten".

I was watching some week old SC Ten today on NCable, and noted that on
a footy promo they only called the station "Southern Cross". Ie "Footy
on Southern Cross."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Cross_Ten is an ontopic link.

I just purchased one of these brand new from retail store last Friday for
$114, no shipping required.

You'll have to price it sub-$100 to move a second hand unit through Usenet I
would think.

I agree, though, that it's a great little card and does all the basics
properly straight out of the box. All of the features you've mentioned
below are competently implemented. The teletext function works fine too.

SDTV will work with a moderately-rated CPU but for HD a CPU that runs at
over 2.5 MBPS is probably the go.

The card is not second hand, just tested thoroughly :-)
It is packed back in its box just as I received it.

At a major chain retailer in Sydney that has operations nation-wide. Go
figure - but there's a bit of a rule here that we don't advertise.

> *******
>
> The card is not second hand, just tested thoroughly :-)

Yeah right.

Rule of thumb: A brand-new product, purchased retail, loses 20 - 40% of its
value as soon as you walk out the door.

Factors:
- Buyers don't know how you have treated it
- Consumer rights law is very limited for sales where the parties are both
private
- There's no implied warranty from the original retailer - buyers would need
to deal with the importer or Compro Taiwan. Good luck.
- It's not new
- If it is new and you bought it from a highly ethical supplier, you would
have returned it for a full refund or credit
- etc etc
