A superstar cast get together for an adventure greater than the West itself. A blazing motion picture blockbuster about one of the bloodiest feuds in American history.
On October 26, 1881, the streets of Tombstone seethed with tension as the legendary gunfighters, Wyatt Earp and his brothers along with Doc Holliday, clashed with the Clanton and McClaury brothers at the O.K Corral.
It was the ultimate Wild West showdown and a battle that quickly became the stuff of legend.

Audio/Visual….
Tombstone has a 2.35:1 aspect and is 16:9 Enhanced, which just what this movie needs for viewers to appreciate the beautiful cinematography of this film.
The picture is mostly clean and only suffers from very, very fine grain in a couple of the darker scenes, but nothing really distracting and to be concerned about. There is a noticeable white blemish that flashes for a second to the left of the screen at the start of chapter 10, but thankfully it's a rare occurrence and the transfer is a very good one that does this movie justice. Colours are solid and well detailed throughout the movie and overall, I was very happy with the quality of the picture.
You have the option of Dolby Surround 2.0 and Dolby Digital 5.1
I opted for the 5.1 option and loved it. This movie sounds really good and all speakers work well together to provide a broad sound stage. Speech is always crisp and clear and the music is great!
The 5.1 audio mix offers a good blend of directional sound and use of the surrounds that also help add atmosphere to the movie. The sub is noticeable in scenes such as ones with thundering horse hooves.
As with the picture quality, I was very pleased with the audio quality.

Extra features…..

The Making Of.... - Is very short (5 minutes), and features clips of the movie, some behind the scenes stuff and has major cast and the director talking about the movie. It's a shame it wasn't longer, but atleast it's something.

Trailer - Widescreen theatrical trailer in Dolby Digital 2.0

Biographies - Features a good selection of cast members and the director with pages of text that contain some detailed biographies and filmographies.

Easter Egg (Hidden Feature) When on the Special Features page, click on the badge on the top right of the screen and you'll be able to watch 10 minutes of filming where you'll see various scenes being filmed and only hear the audio that was present at the time of filming such as the director giving the actors instructions during the scene. There is a low volume music track playing with it.

Overall…..
The cast of Tombstone put in solid performances with Kurt Russell as legendary lawman Wyatt Earp, Sam Elliot and Bill Paxton play Wyatt's brothers Virgil and Morgan, and Val Kilmer who steals the show in my opinion as Doc Holliday. The bad guys, Curly Bill Brocious and Johnny Ringo are played by Powers Boothe and Michael Biehn. Then there's Charlton Heston, Billy Zane, Jason Priestly and Dana Delany.
This is a well acted Western with a great story and plenty of action to boot.
Although the disc is a bit light on extra features, the hidden feature is still a nice touch and this DVD version of Tombstone looks good, sounds good and is an entertaining way to spend a couple of hours.
This DVD will be a worthy addition to my collection.

Thanks for reading…
