Hi,

I dont know if this is the correct place to post this type of question but please move this thread to the correct section.

I recently bought a new divx certified dvd player and played divxs with srt files and turned out that some of them are not readable and some are (due to they are fansubbed divx asian dramas) so for future reference I would like to know how to confirm that they are really srt files, not so-called notepad or text files before burning them off on dvdr's. Also, if they are not "real" srt files, what software programs would I need to convert them into proper "srt" files?

Thanks

Not really sure what you mean.
.srt files are text files with time formatting in them.
for example

1
00:00:00,500 --> 00:00:03,492
Hello, how are you?

2
00:00:03,620 --> 00:00:07,056
Fine Thanks. Yourself?

etc.
You should be able to open them with notepad.
If they are not formatted correctly with time tags then I guess they are not .srt files, and I can't see how you could convert them from an unknown format.
