hi all, first time in this NG so go easy please. am looking to buy a divx player, definitely must be LG, which of their models could you guys recommend, price not really an issue.

They have a new one out which has HDMI output that looks quite good, $199rrp, don't know the model number off hand but all reports seem to indicate that the LG DivX players are very well sorted. If money is not an issue their new DVD recorders are also DivX certified.

Are you talking about this one ? LG DF9921P I was wondering about the price, but haven't got around to looking for one (assuming they are available)

there is an lg dvd recorder that plays divx on the market.
is that unit as good for divx as the 8900p?
im in the market now and want a second player to compliment my xms989.
do dvd recorders (especially this one) have a timer function?

New versions have DivX support, perhaps not quite as much support as the 8900 but they are certified so will offer pretty good results, likely better than what you are getting from your XMS989

Yes, all of the recorders I have seen have some type of timer function.
