Hey guys

My Zensonic 300 is having big problems reading discs. Yesterday I loaded up a dvdrw that had some avis and it wouldnt load up the directory. It just kept seeking for about 1 minute.

I turned the unit off and turned it on about 2 hours later and this time tried a DVD movie and it worked, I then put in the DVDRW of avis and it worked, so i watched a couple and then turned off the unit.

Later that night, I loaded up that same dvdrw and it refused to play so I put in the DVD movie to see if it will read that and it doesnt.

Is this just a lens cleaning issue? If so, where is a good place to go in Sydney to get it repaired since my warranty ended in July.

I will of course will try those discs with the bristles on them first but I think it is more serious than that.

I used to have a Palsonic one that behaved like that and then it soon died. Returned it for a refund at Target.

many thanks andw - it is a faulty motor - i opened it up last night and noticed it doesnt spin the disc when you insert - i gave it a quick turn by hand and then it spun up and read the disc - gonna try the replacement motor trick with the help of my cousin who is very handy with a soldering iron.

andw: I was going to replace the motor last night but got held up by not being able to take that black wheel off that sits above the motor. I need to get it off because underneath it are the screws that hold the existing motor in place. I tried a bit of force but couldnt budge it. Got any hints you can pass on ?

I have attached a picture and circled what i want to take off to help you understand what I mean.

Jason, someone who is part way through (just needs to get a motor) has put some photos up here for disasssembly instructions.

He is needing to find a motor, but from the previous forum link (above), it appears that Zensonic are getting some motors in.
The author of the disassembly / replace / reassemble photos will send them to me to also put in the Z300 section of the ausdivx website when he has finished doing it.
(I have not had to replace a motor, so have not done it myself).

andw: You are a god! I wasnt sure if I should take off that black rim or not, now that I know there's screws under there I can get it off easy enough. Cheers mate, you rock!
