Is there anyone who doesn't know of this comic genius?
This hilarious DVD contains live stand up from Billy Connolly that starts from early as 1975 and continues through the years until as late as 1999.
Here's what a recent media release from Universal said.....
"Billy Connolly - his live shows have been enthralling audiences around the world for over three decades! Now, the star of 'The Man Who Sued God' and the undisputed king of live comedy on video has his remarkable career celebrated with this compilation of some of his finest stand-up moments. Features over 2 hours of classic Connolly from 13 tours! Billy turns 60 this year - and you get the gift!"

The DVD contains 141 minutes of Billy Connolly stand up which is shown in the following order...
Big Banana Feet (1975)
Bites Yer Bum (1981)
Pick Of Billy (1982)
Billy And Albert (1987)
Parents For Safe Food (1989)
Hammersmith Live (1991)

Audio:
Billy Connolly Live: The Greatest Hits has just the one audio option which is Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo.
How does it sound, you ask? Well it's not bad at all people!
The quality of the speech, which is ever so important on a title like this is thankfully pleasing as Billy was always very clear and easy to understand and showed no signs of problems with lip sync.
Live material can sometimes have hums, squeaks or any other kind of interference, but in the case of this material it was relatively free from any problems.

Video:
The entire feature is shown with an aspect of 1.33:1 full screen.
Video quality does tend to vary slightly due to the range of live material that starts from 1975 and moves onwards until 1999.
Things start off with some fine grain and little specs flickering on screen during the first section (Big Banana Feet), but things do get better after this and the picture becomes a lot cleaner for the duration of this DVD.
The image is reasonably sharp throughout and noticeably looks a lot better in the later years.
Colours are pretty basic as are flesh tones and shadow detail is acceptable. There's nothing really striking about the video transfer, but it's more than acceptable overall when taking in account the various ages of the filming and the locations (live on stage).
The main menu features 6 different styles of an animated Billy moving along to banjo music.

Web Link -
Here you'll find a link to Billy Connolly's web site, and that's about it for the extra content on this DVD.

OVERALL:

This is a very funny DVD to own and fans of Billy Connolly are obviously going to enjoy this DVD as it shows him at various stages of his career and although some of the footage may be familiar to the more loyal fans, this DVD is an absolute hoot!
The presentation of the DVD is pretty basic with no scene selection or any real extra features, but the audio and video quality on this DVD are more than acceptable, and the lack of extra features shouldn't be too much of a concern when the DVD provides an outstanding 141 minutes of Billy Connolly live.
Billy Connolly Live: The Greatest Hits is available from April 10, 2002 with a RRP of $34.95.
