I was reading a book about about interviews with cops. In one interview a
homocide detective said without fail the most violent and cruel murders he
saw were gay lovers killing each other.

The passenger probably owned a Magna and was taking revenge on the
person he bought if from because the damn thing wouldn't go (which is
why Magnas are rarely ever used as getaway cars).
