This week I had the opportunity to do a drive to Rocky and back. Granted it
was mid-week, but I couldn't help but notice how the standard of driving
improved the further up the Bruce Hwy I got. Didn't encounter any
tailgaters, nor overtaking lane crawlers after leaving Gympie in my wake.

Driving around places like Bundaberg, Gladstone and Rocky was a pleasure.
Most folks seem to keep to the posted limits, keep left, indicate and
cooperate.

There are enough little white crosses decorating the side of the highway to
remind you it is dangerous. I find it hard to understand how the Qld GovCo
can get away year after year without installing side barriers/rails/wires
on the Bruce Hwy. Very long sections of it are raised metres above the
surrounding country and any car seriously getting off the road there will
be air borne.

On the way back, Gympie was where the morons started coming out of the
woodwork. They were thick on the ground by Petrie. The M1 from Brisbane to
the Gold Coast must take the cake though as having the highest
concentration fuck heads.

You shoulda taken the inland route -- the standard of driving is that
much better again! :)

Yeah, that would be right.
Those that move up here from southern states live around Brisbane and the
coasts.

Their driving gives the rest of us a bad name :-)

If you get far enough north, the standard drops off again. Heaps of
tourists and southern imports on the roads of FNQ.

Inclined to agree.
And you're defo right on the mark about the south of Gympie changeover
point.
You have to put on your anti-agro drivers hat about there, and keep it
on until you're well south of Ballina.
Make no mistake, it's NOT incompetence, it's actually agro or as youy
term it, fuckwittedness.
Watch carefully, and you'll see that even the slow ones are actually
driving aggressively.

And no, I don't know why. Just is, is all.

LOL did you happen to take note of the ratio of dickheads to "good drivers"?
Of course as you get further north there'll be less fuckheads - there's less
drivers. Why would anyone drive properly anyway? We don't bother with
licencing tests that actually test how you follow the road rules and the
police in Qld don't enforce anything other than the two camera enforceable
offences. Is it any wonder the majority of fuckwits do what they like on
the roads?

Cheers

The worst time for driving between Cooroy turnoff(end of the dual lanes)
and Gympie is around 5-7AM and the equivlinet 8 hour seperation, this is
when the braindead labourers(council and othger mindless type jobs) are
on the road to and from work
they are in no hurry and don't believe anyone else should be either so
they pullout in front of a line of traffic and then drag along at 75-85
and ignore everyone else
