ok coming from a set of traffic lights turning to another road, the road
then goes from
2 lanes into one, it has like dotted lines across where the lane ends ,
whats the law regarding these, if im in the right hand lane do i give way to
those on the left?
or do they give way on to me?

depends on which lane the dotted lines are on
if they are on the left, the left hand lane must give way to all traffic in
the right hand lane and vicky vercka
If there are no dotted lines, then it is sort of an agreement to let one go
after the other,
although 4WD drivers take the right of way, even if they don't have it

If you have to cross the dotted lines, you have to give way to vehicles
in the other lane (your lane is ending).
If there are no dotted lines where the lanes merge, vehicles must 'zip
merge'. That is, take it in turns. The vehicle that is in front when
the lanes merge goes first.
This is fairly simple, but many people appear not to understand it.

The dotted lines indicate a "Giveway" sign so whoever has to cross that
line must giveway to traffic in the other lane

But if the people in the right lane deliberately drive up each others' arse to
prevent you from merging you have every right to push in, if you happen to be in
the left lane. :)

By law you must give way. If someone does try to block you from merging, simply
because they don't want to let you in and it's clear that your road is running
out, then you should make every effort to force your way in front of them.

Often that broken line that marks your 'lane' and indicates that you
must yield doesn't go right to the edge of the roadway so once you
pass the end of it, you are quite legally entitled to just move over.

But from what I gather here it's your "right" to force your way in, but
if you do it in a 4WD then you're a pig-headed arrogant crunt. Seems
like a double standard... imagine that? =)

Simply put
Changing lanes means give way , if you try forcing its "fine time"
anything else is bullshite .

I agree. Just do your best to not feck up the traffic flow. This is
usually best acheived by planning ahead - *way* ahead if possible.

Unless you will cause an accident, and by law we are all supposed to do
everything possible to avoid an accident.
