Assuming all players were fit and available, who would you pick to be your World XI? Including Australian players (should you so choose)
(Mods, I thought being a "game" deserved it's own thread here, but if you feel it belongs in the main Cricket thread, please feel free to move it)

Mine is:

1. Gilchrist (keeper/batsman) (vc)
2. Sagakarra
3. Tendulkar (c)
4. Lara
5. Kallis
6. Clarke
7. Pietersen
8. Pollock
9. Flintoff
10. Mc Grath
11. Muralitharan

12 man Dravid if Super Sub

Vettori if just normal 12th man

What do you guys think?

I definitely wouldn't pick Pieterson or Muralidaran. I would probably pick Gayle over Pieterson, and replace Muttiah with Warney :D Whatever happened to Michael Bevan? I would pick him for any team.

Why didn't you put this in General Chat?Gee, You selected Symonds! Who'd have thunk it? :PI It's technically a game, I figured so I put it here before the mods moved it here. They'll move it if I chose wrongly, I'm sure. :)

I would always choose Symonds in any ODI team.

I remember one of last night's commentators said this:

If Australians were picked, at least 5 would be picked. They would be Gilchrist, Ponting, Symonds, Lee and McGrath.

Gilchrist and Ponting being the Worlds #1 and 2 bowlers this year.
Lee and McGrath being the World #1 and 2 bowlers this year.

I selected Symonds into the team because of his excellent fielding capabilities and I think he's one of the top 3 allrounders. Selected Flintoff and Afridi as my other power hitting allrounders - Pollock the bowling all rounder. :)

Sure, they're quick, but they can be terribly costly - particularly with wides and no balls.

As for Ponting and Symonds, never been a huge fan I'm afraid - very hot and cold - particularly Symonds. Granted, when he's hot, he's really hot, but when he's not.....

I like Gayle and Afridi, but ran out of positions for them. :o

Oops yeh, my mistake.

You could have replaced Gayle with Sangakarra because you don't need 2 wickies. I thought Kallis is a bit overated. Sure he's good, no offence to the guy but he bat's like he's playing in a test. Those could be your two spots.

You have something for Clarke don't you?

BTW, I did a quick search on google and found so many fantasy cricket games but we missed the boat on all of them. Some started before the Ashes and some started on the first ODI match between Aus and World XI.

If I found one would you enter it?

You have something for Clarke don't you?I just think he's a young, up coming player who would learn a hell of a lot in a team like that, and would carry his weight while learning.

If I found one would you enter it?Sure, in a heartbeat.

Do you think this would be a good game: http://www.fantasycricketonline.com/int0506/fantasy-cricket.htm

It's very hard to pick under 25 points though.
