If your burner has the latest firmware (you can check details here www.rpc1.org ) then not a lot you can do, not all media types work with all burners.

If you're using Nero you can click on recorders/choose recorder and the firmware version information is displayed along with all the properties for your drive. Other programs have similar functionality, there are also freeware programs that can be used to identify the firmware version of your drive.

Your burner is a +R burner, although from what I have read on rpc.org it can be flashed with a hacked firmware to allow writing of -R media also, never tried this myself on your model to know if it works ok but I have used other firmware supplied by the Dangerous Brothers and it worked faultlessly.

right, well....... now here is the question..

Should i attempt to flash my Drive? or just get +r DVDs?

even if the flash goes wrong. i have the right dics to reformat the drive back to the way it was

also i wonder if ps2's read -R dvds... mostly the people i sell out dvds too they use they're ps2s

Flash it, at worst you'll break it, good drives available around $60 to $70 these days will make you wonder why you have put up with such a slow drive for so long. Not sure I understand what you are saying about the PS2, I can say that I have only ever used -R discs in PS2's, I've never even tried +R's in them.

There should be instructions on the site with the firmware, it's generally done from the command line. I can't help you with it now, I have to go, If you work it out post back details, otherwise I'll look at it later tonight perhaps.
