A recently posted link to highly misleading taxpayer funded anti-4WD
propaganda, albeit a little dated, has me wondering just how the
campaign might be progressing.

For those who may have missed it, the link is....
http://www.aph.gov.au/library/pubs/rn/2003-04/04rn27.htm

By inference, it passes off what are clearly US figures as being
relevent to Oz. It provides no references for the source of its data
but appears to draw heavily on an Australian Transport Safety Bureau
(ATSB) report... ATSB Monograph 11, 'Fatal four wheel drive crashes',
4 September 2002.

Good luck to anyone who thinks they may be able to find a copy... it
appears to be restricted to anti-4WD interests.

Now there's this little gem, hot off the press....
http://www.theage.com.au/ed_docs/4WD.pdf

(If you don't already know who the Australia Institute are, try
google.)

Wow, that was really funny.

What the opinion of homosexuality has to do with the "dangers" of a large
4wd being used in suburbia is beyond me, but the researchers obviously
thought it was relevant.

Such "studies" only serve to make the anti-4wd'ers look like insecure
fucking idiots :)

Just more wailing for them to pull excuses out of their Jacksy.

Most of them are probably lisping prancy little poofy hair dressers.
That would scream rape by a girl in a 4x4. :-)

I've already written to my MHR stating concerns at the taxpayer funded
anti-4WD propaganda that's most likely a precursor to restrictions and
impositions being placed on 4WD owners.... And I don't even own a
passenger 4WD.

Anyone else who's concerned by the activities of these Government
sponsored ratbags ought do the same.

You can find the details and address of your MHR here....

Doubt it!
Hair dressers and girls get along really well, most share a lot in
common.
Girls who drive 4WD's, not provided by "Hubby" are possibly more likely
to rape their own :-)

You have to love the 'questions' that were asked to obtain the
conclusions.
From the article^h^h^h^h^h^h^h crap in the link.

LOL! Silly questions, I'll take a punt ...

> 1. I'm a bit of an intellectual

Yup, when I need to be.

> 2. I believe a percentage of everyone's income should go to charities

Dunno, maybe, depends which.

> 3. I regularly go to church or my place of worship

No chance.

Dunno, maybe, depends which.

> 5. I believe homosexuality is immoral

Nup.

> 6. I find technology is changing so fast, it's difficult to keep up with

Yup, and I'll add a lot of it is ill thought out crap because of that
when you really study it.

> 7. I sometimes use force to get things done

Don't understand the question. No, tends to break things,
or upset people.

> 8. I'm a 'Mr Fix It' type of person

Yup, have to be - that's the way life works.

> 9. I like to go away on weekends

Not enough time in a weekend to do that.

> 10. I like to take my holidays away from crowds

10000% yup. There a problem with that?

Whe gives a fuck, the article as you stated drew heavily from an ATSB
document.

What part of homosexuality do you personally think is relevant to 4wd use?

Why such a topic even managed to find it's way into such a report is
amazing, and I'm genuinely bemused as to why they felt such owner
perceptions where necessary when I can't think of a single such report from
anyone that has even gone close to such things.

That the topic was even mentioned suggests to me that the entire report has
the integrity of snake shit.

> Believe it or not, I partially agree with you but there could be an

With all due respect, the fact that you think that way doesn't surprise me
at all.

If we were to conduct a survey on the "value" of Ford Falcons to society,
and discovered that 50% of owners were pseudo-intellectual "Mr Fixit" poofs,
I can't think how that would be even remotely relevant to the car at all.

I think I need glasses. I was hoping this was about how 4WD owners are
homos.
I was hoping to get some names for my friends here in aus.cars that I
suspect are hiding in the closet.

Taking one point in isolation to prove your point doesn't cut it. No
doubt your unaware what the meaning of demographics is.

Driver demographics. I would imagine marketing companies would use
this sort of report. At least they know that its pointless to try
selling 'fudge packer lube' to gung ho 4wd owners :)

Did you and Patrick make donations or commision this paper then? -

The Australia Institute is an independent public policy research
centre funded by grants from philanthropic trusts, memberships and
commissioned research.

"Research" commissioned by whom?

Their own stated position... 'the Institute undertakes research and
analysis commissioned and paid for by government'

Take a look at their directors list, and see how many you can find
whose salaries are paid from the public purse -- at least one of whom
I happen to have known personally (from when I worked for Govco).

The rest appear to be professional shit stirrers.

Independent my arse!
