This, from ABC Online - another preposterous headline.
"Hospital bed shortage, bird flu conference told
A health consultant claims Australia does not have enough hospital
beds to manage a bird flu pandemic."
WTF are they thinking??????
Putting ailing birdees in hospitals?
These ABC imbeciles need to get a grip.
And soon.

Its a valid topic for aus.cars. Cars often come into contact with birds, and
when we drive we constanty intake air and dust from the environment outside
of the car. There will be so many ppm of bird shit in that air for sure.
Consequently it will also effect the speed limits set on roads that go past
chook farms. The GovCo will have to derestrict speed limits on these roads
to minimize peoples exposure to chook shit dust.
As for the URLs you have posted. They don't paint the real in-camera picture
of what our experience might be if Lord Darwin manages develop a service
pack for H51N to allow it operate better in humans.
Check out this article. I think this is what Toby was alluding to.

yes, this avian flu is a big topic for car owners. It could be terrible.
Luckily, I have paint protection, so if a bird does come into contact with
my car, the car won't get bird flu. Probably.

:-)
About sums it all up.
But I need to add that the 'scare' is naught but shicken-shit anyway.
However, in deference to the blathering about the matter in the LCD
Media and enormous pressure from the population at large, I have
fitted carefully constructed surgical masks to our chooks against the
possibility that, say, a muslim Scythrops novaehollandiae sneezes in
their vicinity.
They like them, but are complaining about difficulty in pecking at
stuff. They'll get over it.
The Crows, having read the newspapers are shitting themselves on two
fronts at the moment.
And Tamiflu.
Err, AKA Rumiflu on a couple of quality blogs well tuned to the rather
important matter of criminals in power.

Hardly unusual.
