So is there finally a permanent solution to be able to play the HD
version of the film?
The old proxy "hack" methods don't seem to be as successful these days.

No, enjoy the film, not the level of grain or higher bitrate soundtrack.
If you are missing that extra oomph, just turn the volume up.

What a helpful response, and I agree. I don't know why they even bother
with high definition video, when you can just turn up the sound.

It's as helpful as it has to be. Unless somebody has a fake proxie that the
studio has missed, then us aussies can't play it.

just get a cracked version of the WMV file
.... Ironic isnt it that by restricting people watching the legal version of
it, you just get the cracked version and it plays fine... (its the same as
the WMV file on the disc, except it has the protection removed)

Build a PVR HTPC and downmload the HD version off Emule. And watch it
on your HD TV.
Works for me :)

A highly compressed version. What would be the point exactly? The standard
DVD version would be better quality than a WMV.

Isn't the WMV about 9GB?

So? Its still WMV.

Duh. Instead of offering 'helpful as it has to be' advice, you could spend
five seconds Googling HD and WMV.

It's a configurable compression technology. If the point of making an HD version
of the movie is to provide a very high detailed awesome quality picture then
they aren't going to crank up the compression, and if it's about 9GB then that
means the compression isn't enough to ruin the video.

Exactly. So long as no compression artifacts are visible it's going to
be a huge improvement on the DVD picture quality.

the HD wmv file is vastly superior to the DVD (mpeg2) version......You need
to do some research...or maybe just watch some good Microsoft HD clips

By the way K offers such quality advice, he's about as useful as an ashtray
on a motorbike ... no offence.

Don't forget that standard DVD video is also compressed.
HD WMV files look superb - don't knock it it just 'cos it's WMV format.
