There I am this morning in the car at the Dickson (ACT) car park looking for
a spot so I can duck in to the post office. Crawling down one of the car
park aisles, woman in front in a Forrester is also looking for a spot. We
both come to a stop as a car is looking to back out. Woman in front decides
that spot will do her nicely but she is just a bit too far forward so next
thing I know on come the reversing lights and just as I hit the horn, her
towbar hits my front bumper!

Well she's terribly apologetic, is having a terrible morning rushing around
dropping off kids etc etc but I've got the dinged bumper and she's got a
fleck of silver paint on her towball! So the inevitable exchange of details
and a couple of hours later I've got a quote from the panel beater for
nearly $800 and an claim number from AAMI. Won't cost me a thing except the
inconvenience...

The irony is, while all this was happening I've got the radio on the local
ABC station and they in a deep discussion about the ACT road toll for the
year to date and what are the problems with Canberra drivers!

a lot of problems with canberra drivers, mainly related to trying to get
ahead of others at any cost. public service mentality of backstabbing.
'tailgating', speeding and obviously merging are problems related to a
society where there is no policing.

There's nowhere near enough marked police on Canberra's roads. Plenty
of speed cameras though.

And they're planning to put in more and raise the restrictions on where they
can be placed. Clearly designed to improve the quality of driving in the
Territory.

Yep. Driver behaviour is ignored, police in the ACT are ambulatory cash
machines apparently. Speeding's all they care about, with the occasional
interest in alcohol.

I invite everyone to come and see Perth drivers probably the worst
