Where are the retail prices Listed?

Anyway, those prices are pretty expensive IMO...

This looks suspiciously like the work of "Adrian" and MultXtreme Interactive to me......

It's illegal to commercially sell R1's. Period.

If he believes otherwise, he is an idiot.

Where is your proof ?

MultiXtreme Interactive (our lessee for TECS) has lawyers
that have been looking into this accusation you make for almost 12 months and finalised their investigation late last year, saying nothing can be done about selling R1's in Australia.

Also regarding the post that says we are expensive, remember that we have to charge GST, so subtract GST then say we are expensive. We decided to price match DVD Box Office then add 10% for the GST.

Kind Regards

DVD Box Office is expensive.
Adding 10% to them makes it even MORE expensive.

Here's an example using my latest R1 order for comparison.

DVD Box Office = CA$207.70 or US$138.47 (including shipping)
AB Sound = CA$187.44 (including shipping)

Converting it using Westpac's FOREX Calculator to convert from CA$ to AUS$

DVD Box Office = AUS$258.43
ABSound.CA = AUS$233.22

That's a $25 difference already. Then we add another 10% for the GST, and we have more then $50 difference! Sorry, but that's a big difference in anyones language. I'm sure everyone here would prefer to save $50 and buy an extra one or two titles with that!

Here's My order using TECS

Joy Ride $48.05
Training Day $43.98
Rat Race $48.05
Soul Survivors $46.68

Total So far = $186.76

Now if you would like to tell us how much Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Super Speedway Mach II Edition are, we'll see how much my order would cost from TECS.

THEN, you can tell us how NOT expensive you are.....

P.S. If selling R1 commercially is legal according to MultiXtreme lawyers, how come so many R1 shops get raided and shutdown? This has happened in Both Melbourne and Sydney.

I rest my case.

its cheaper to buy from DVD Box Office direct!
Its even cheaper to buy from ABSound!

Can't compare them to you? Damn straight I can!
I'm a consumer, and as such, have a right to compare retailers offering identical goods. Your DVDs are the same as ABSound, and the same as DVDBO.
So what if ABSound maintains its profits by their walk-in stores? If that's what they want to do, then that's what they want to do! I'm quite happy for them to do that, as it means cheaper DVDs for me! AND they wouldnt be doing it if it lost them too much money, so they must see some value in it mustnt they?

Good luck with the business Rod.

(And I hope that Rod isnt just another name for Adrian O'Brien)

Anyway , thank you for your opinion, much appreciated.

If we could beat the stores like dvd box office etc.. it would be better. I hate GST , but to run an honest business, I can't avoid this. Our service is mainly for people without credit cards, and people that don't want to wait 2 weeks, also we get titles before release date.

I have just consulted with the Adrian (you all probably know), he is the victorian manager for our supplier, and he just warned us that we were going to get backlashed by many posters if we post on newgroups and forums, that don't support retailers of R1 DVDs in Australia.

I see your point that a couple of bucks more, means a lot on the net.

Kind Regards

Rod,

I have no problem with you at all. Adrian is another story altogether.

I don't think you're going to receive too much stick provided you're more sensible than Adrian was when posting ads etc.

The only backlash Adrian got when promoting the business was for:

a. constantly lying to newsgroups about the activities
b. never answering straight questions put to him
c. posting under different usernames and accounts to promote the business by saying how good it was.

After that, he lost any respect he may have had originally.

But, if you can make a go of the business, then congrats and best wishes.

Thanks.

I remember those days, when Adrian was so disorganised (I must admit I had some trouble getting DVDs out of him, but I got them), now like 8-12 months down the track, he has done something that I believed he couldn't do and has become the name of the biggest DVD importer in Melbourne, he supplies heaps of shops around Melbourne because he has the best import DVD prices in Australia. Adrian put a suggestion to TECS Imports about 4 months or so ago to launch a DVD Department in the TECS Company, Willie the CEO of TECS started a 6 month trial run of Adrian's proposal to see whether it benefits the company, so far it is going along well, as I wasn't sure that Adrian ran business practices on this forum and newsgroup in the past (until yesterday).

Let me put it straight that I am just a salesperson in customer service for the TECS DVD/Sales Deparment. Adrian manages direct wholesale sales for TECS (aka TECS Direct). We have a direct affiliation with MultiXtreme Interactive Asia Pacific.

If this statement has deterred any buyers because of Adrian
involvement in our company, thats their own decision.

Kind Regards

TECS why did you delete the post which breaks down the cost of your DVDs? (Modified to "discussion is finished") You were saying there are not much profit margins for selling them (I cannot remember the exact amount), but then the company is going well for 6 months??? How can you justify this? If you guys are not making much profit why you still running it?

TECS

Because of the discounts MultiXtreme Interactive gives us from their supplier, and we only sell these prices on the net, our retail store sell a bit more so profit is good.

Regarding above post that was deleted, it was a discussion with another poster, it should of been in pm, but I forgot it was posted in the public section.

I see, well it's interesting to see how low the profit margin of selling DVDs...
