Can anyone point me in the right direction as to deciding what LCD TV to get.

Three have come to mind. The Panasonic 26inch, the soon to be released 27inch and the LG 26inch.

To those who have seen both the Panasonic and LG 26inch which was better?

I am thinking of getting the LG as fromn what I know, it has the DVI input instead of the VGA input for PCs.

But overall picture quality of TV is much more important

You've got to sit in front of them & watch them. Forget animation - they all
look good with that. Watch them with a DVD or digital FTA (SD) signal where
there is both camera movement & people movement (they may be HD capable, but
you're going to be watching more SD source material for a while yet, so
you've got to be happy with that). Make sure you play around with the
brightness/colour/contrast controls to see if you're happy with skin tones,
etc. If you like watching footy, get some footy on DVD (the AFL/NRL grand
final DVD's were released within days, so you can assume they haven't been
touched up much) & see if you like the colour of the grass (no joke) & the
motion.

In the end, it's personal preference. Some people like a softer picture,
some like a sharper one. You can get used to the other, but you'll find it
harder to get used to jerky motion.

I have a 26 inch AWA LCD from Big W, has an LG panel in it, I think the cost
is around $1300 at the moment.

I'm very happy with the picture over DVI, I don't notice the trails on fast
moving objects, the blacks could be a little blacker, but I haven't seen
many LCDs that do them better anyway. It also has composite, Svideo,
Component, RGB, and DVI connector.

They also have an 81 cm (32 inch) for around $1800 and a 94 cm (37 inch)
model for around $2800 from memory.

They are definitely worth checking out in your comparison, beware the crappy
composite connection they usually hook up to demo though, doesn't do the
screen justice.

Thanks for the replies.
I may look at the AWA LCD TVs,

Been ringing up some stores, having a hard time trying to find a 66cm

Lok at the Acer 32". Comes with 3 yaears warranty and is only $1850 at DSE
at the moment. I had min now for about 3 months and its a great screen. Has
DVI input as well as VGA and a bunch of s-video, components inputs. Plus it
looks damn nice with its black trim around the screen. Also make sure you
look at it from the distance you will be viewing it from at home. No point
at looking at it close up cause all hidef panels with sd stuff on themn lok
crappy close up.

26" are being dumped at the moment so good value. Standard is shifting
between 32" (very good ones such as as Aquos well under 3k now) and 37",
still expensive.

Yep 32" is where the bargains can be found. As stated the 37" are stil a bit
to expensive, though the Benq 37" 1920*1080 panel can be gotten for a touch
over 3 grand which is a nice buy. Not the most attractive looking screen but
nice specs and comes with 3 years warranty.

Latest Kmart cattledog has an Audiosonic 81cm LCD for $1,300 or
thereabouts. Wonder what the quality is like. Over the page there's a
name brand, same size, slightly different specs for around $2,300.

For the most part you pay for the name. Though im sure some of it couldbe
peace of mind that a little more R&D has been put in to the unit. Though why
is it the lesser brands give more warranty than the brand names. Most bar
Sharp and Phillip only give 12 months. Then companies like BenQ and Acer to
name a few give 3 years.

Those specs are wrong. The "active area" is for a 66cm model.
I wonder what else is mixed up?
