View Full Version : Wintal PVR-X10 Firmware Upgrade

It sucks that Wintal/Radio Parts refuse to distribute the firmware update to current owners to give us the features on the X10A with it's post record/edit functions.
The fact that they advertise that it has a port for firmware upgrades led me to assume that firmware upgrades would be available.
Seems like misleading the consumer to me.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the device itself, but feel cheated by this.

They refused up until the other week, despite the firmware being used in
off-the-shelf boxes since early this year.

However, overseas-sourced firmware upgrades have been extensively discussed
on the DBA Forum:

Most of those firmware updates offer a more extensive feature set than what
Wintal's does. The PVR-X10 is a 100% clone of a reference design by
Digenius in Germany, and as such the third-party firmware is perfectly safe
to use.
