Just thought id post this quickly, the prices for the new Dune trilogy and the children of dune trilogy, have dropped for about$80, to around $35, you can find them at this price in hmv and sanity, ezy dvd has them for about $3 cheaper if you really want, but theyre currently out of stock so i dont know how long it will take them, dont be fooled in sanity and hmv, the listed price says 80-something, but once they scan it youll see its discounted, if they refuse the discounted price (some stores say online prices differ from their prices) you can also order online

also, for a long time i have been looking for the dune collectors edition in the metal boxset, you can fidn the normal boxsets almost anywhere for around 30, but to my knowledge hmv is thew only store that still sells the limited edition metal boxes, most stores dont have em in stock but they can order it in, i just ordered mine the other day, they told me it could take anywhere from a week to 10 days....

Hi Guys

Is the Metal Box (3 disc set) any better in terms of transfer than the old R4 DVD release? Cause it was complete garbage on anything bigger than 68cms of screen.

I really like this film, but want a decent/watchable transfer.

Cheers

its exact same discs as the other collectors edition, just a shiny metal box... for me, as a dvd cover whore, the box makes a differance, but if you already have the collectors eidition dont bother buying the metal box, its exactly the same,if however you have the cheapo widescreeen 3 hour edition which ranges from $5 to $15 in most shops (though ive seen borders sell this at the rip off price of $35...) then i do believe the collectors edition may be of higher quality, i havent seen the collectors edition yet, but i assume it would be,

Thanks heaps for that!

I reckon I had (ebayed it last year for $6) the 3 hour crap one that you mention.

I have poured over the cover and can find no reference to re-mastering or somesuch.

I might see if I can hire this one first, but if it's a decent transfer I would be very happy to part with $30 bucks for it.
