I've browsed a few threads (dated) on infrared repeater issues with the GigaAir 2.4GHz AV senders. Just got digital cable tv today and hooked it up with my two senders (two cable boxes) and three receivers.
The issue seems to be receiver-->sender because one receiver triggers the right infrared response from the sender (and from there to the led unit in front of the cable tv box) whereas another receiver does not trigger the correct response from the same sender. In other words, the sender is able to change channel as instructed by one receiver but not as instructed by another receiver. All other things checked out OK; everything worked with the analogue cable tv boxes, and settings verified. So ... SOME GigaAir units will successfully control a digital cable box.
GigaAir 2020: receivers can't pass correct IR signal to their parent 2020 senders.
GigaAir 20R [sold as individual receiver only]: can pass to 2020 sender.
If the 20R handles the IR input differently, I should be able to just replace the 2020 receivers with two separate 20R receivers, thus keeping the 2020 senders and saving some money. Has anyone verified that this works?
