Hey all,

I'm having a problem currently with my Foxtel Digital setup. I've just recently purchased a SCART to 5 RCA (YUV, l+r audio) cable and I'm only getting a black screen with sound.

I've tried every output setting on the Foxtel Digital STU (PAL, RGB, YUV, SVideo) and even switched between the AV and TV SCART outputs but still get the same result. I've tested on both my STUs as well.

I have a SCART to 3 RCA (vidoe, l+R audio) and it works fine, but the SCART to 5 RCA (YUV, l+r audio) doesn't work at all other than the sound coming through. It's just all black and flickering on the screen.

Anybody able to help me further? Have I got a faulty cable? Is there any way I can test this further (maybe a way to test out the cable itself?)

Cheers!

These cables are directional. Is it possible you accidently bought one designed to go TO a scart connector and not FROM?
EDIT: You probably wouldn't have got sound if this was the case, so probably not your problem.

I don't think they are - S-video cables are.

I'd say that there is a component - RGB mix up somewhere.

You are right; it is the audio that is directional, as well as composite video. So obviously not the problem! I would have thought with an RGB/YUV mix-up, there would some kind of signal, even if distorted.

They did mention flickering. RGB sync maybe?

They've also posted in aus.tv.pay - I think they've got a box that doesn't
output component.
