I sa a 380 from behind today. From other angles it isn't too bad but the
back end is a shocker. The boot line is so high that it'd have to be worse
than most 4WDs for reversing visibility.

I missed an "8" in the subject line.

Bugger. You left out an 8 in the subject line which prevented my
filters from killing the thread!

Please don't do it again. :)

In recent tests by the NRMA it was found that the commodore was the worst
for rear visibility. The first 4wd was fifith on the list.

That's like saying poached shit tastes better than boiled shit.

Toyota, Honda, Holden, Mercedes, and Landrover all have zero star models:

if the commodore is the worst.. why does the report on this link show the
figures for the prado and the discovery to be the worst, followed by the
monaro, then the commodore?

The first thing I noticed when I upgraded from an EL to an AU was the
reduced rear visibility due to the higher boot line. Same with my
wife's upgrade, from a little Daihatsu hatch to an Echo... the way that
car tilts it looks like it's about to pounce on something. Both our
cars now have reverse parking sensors installed.

(They're not infallible though... just went to check whether the lovely
wifey's car had two or four sensors, and noticed a nice scrape of paint
missing from her rear bumper. Grrr. >:) )

*All* vehicles, indeed most things that are made in factories, are potential
child-killers.

I saw one beside a VS-ish Commodore today and apart from a squarer profile
the 380 boot-lid is no higher.

The rear quarter-panels look more obtrusive than the Commode's though.....

Knob
(I actually saw TWO 380s today!!)

why are people talking about the boot lid height
it's the rear parcel shelf, who can actually see the boot lid of their
cars
I know I can't
