*NEW* D Link - Wireless Media Centre

I just found out about this wireless centre the other day i have been looking into buying one of these for a while & i only thought they came out like a stanard PC with awesome software to do this & costs a fair bit of cash also. There about $2500 which aint cheap. Until now u can get this wireless media centre which looks alot like a dvd player which can transfer media from your pc to anywhere in your home without any cords. Which to me is friggin awesome & what i have always wanted. But ya probably wondering why the hell i am rammbling on about this when u already know about it all well maybe ya might not of heard that D Link in Feburay next year is going to bring out a New & improved wireless media centre with a dvd player buildt into it for about $450 ;D. I got this info from the main guy at WOW sounds & he told me to hold off until then to get a better deal.

So i have one question about this wireless media centre is it really worth it & does it have any flaws in sending media from the pc to the media centre?

For the extra $50 or so I'd rather have a Z500, HD compatible and whole bunch of other stuff that make it a better option.

I want to get a media server, but I have been waiting for something where data can go both ways. So not only can you stream video from your pc to the tv, but record video from your tv to your pc. Surely this can't be that hard to do ???

Why not just stick a TV tuner card in your PC, then you can use a great free program called Webscheduler to set up rules for automatically recording shows etc as well.

You can still get USB2 digital TV tuners (even tiny ones), but I guess that it's just another thing hanging out of it....

Can you record foxtel programs with these tuners ?

None of them can (that I am aware of).
Only thing you can do is go in through the A/V connection (if it has one).
(and you need something to turn on and change the channel on your Foxtel box).

I have 1 more question do run the wireless do u have to have a wireless router also?

I thought this just plugs straight into teh back of ya pc , if so i guess i have to buy a wireless modem also :(

Yep you will need a wireless router as well, which is about a $100.

Lol...you could always run an ethernet cable to it.

Oh yeah i can see my dog getting a real shock out of that idea hahaha. ;) nar man i think i will go for the wireless router less wires laying around & no vet bills.
