i've got a cheap tv and cheap dvd player. however they've got the Y/Cb/Cr input and output, i tried to hook them up, the TV does sensed there's some signal going in coz i can switch to YUV when normall i can't without plugging in anything.
but the thing is it's just a blue screen...did i miss something?
or actually, is it much of a difference or am i just wasting my time on these cheap stuffs?

Component is a lot better than composite.

You may want to detail what TV and DVD player you have

If your player is currently set to progressive scan, and yor TV doesn't support it, you will get this.
Make sure your player is set to interlaced output for component output.

do i need to connect the normal composite video? because if I connect that, there's picture on the screen now, but i think there's something wrong with the player, i tried to plug the Y/Cb/Cr one by one in, there's only green, and red colour, the blue one hasn't got any output.

it's a 68cm Base TV bought from Target, and a Conwa DVD player bought from DoDo.

You may need to plug in the composite cable to set up your player (depending on the player).
Once it is set up for component though, you won't need it.
If you plug just into the Green, I'm pretty sure that the green colour signals, and the sync signals are sent down that one. From memory, the blue and red only provide the blue and red colour signals, and no sync information.
You will need to look in the setup menu of your player and see if there is a way to set it up for YUV (component) output and set it to interlaced, not progressive scan.
