I wouldn't worry about it unless your bills go funny. keeps tabs on
your calls via online billing.

It just means your phone is connecting to other cells further away. It's the
nature of the beast and not a fault or anything.

How's that work when San Remo is on Phillip Island and Safety Beach is
in rosebud and I'm in central Gippdland? Don't think so....

Its possible, possibly not probably.

They changed a lot of cells to "Happy 2006" at end of year, quite possible
they put the wrong ones back on the wrong ones.

Call 125111 if you care

Dunno how far those are away but when I lived in the hills I'd get
occassional reception from very long distances away, despite nearby towers
etc.

A GSM phone can happily camp on (listen to and treat as the
preferred contact) a distant cell in idle mode if the distant
cell has the same Location Area Code as a closer one, but
better signal quality. But any attempt to establish a working
interactive session of any sort with a standard cell at a
distance of more than 35 km will fail because the required
Timing Advance value would be beyond the upper limit (ie,
greater than 63).
