I need to buy some new hubcaps for my wife's 1998 Holden Barina.
Does anyone know how much they will cost new from Holden and what's the best
bet for second hand.
Thanks

#1. Teach her to park without hitting gutters.
#2. Go to Supercheap. You'll get a set for nothing, and they'll look
slightly less offensive than OEM items.

Thanks Mark
I'll pass your suggestion on to the missus. I could never suggest such a
thing of course.
Cheers

Have a look over on Ebay, they pop up all the time.

Not _need_. _Want_. The car would work fine without them. :-)

In all seriousness, I'd suggest buying some supercheap hubcaps (about $30 a
set at most) to use while you own the car. When you're ready to sell it,
get a set of good original type hubcaps to put on it.
It's best if you do this virtually as soon as you get a car, so that you
keep the original good ones instead of having to chase them through the
wreckers.
The other place to look for hubcaps is places that sell mags - particularly
if they fit mags for dealers. They often end up with a pile of original
hubcaps and, in some cases, complete wheels with virtually brand new tyres.

Super cheap sets are selling for $12.99 at the moment. Holden will take
around $100 off your hands Id say for some origionals. (That someone will
most probably steal anyway.) Get ya missus to call Holden first so she knows
how much they are.
Next time you retyre buy some rubber thats one size up to stop her wrecking
the caps.

Thanks.
I picked up a set of generics at Big W for $12.99 and they do the job quite
nicely.
By the way, I phoned Holden and they wanted $290 for a set of originals!'
Cheers

Pleesssee - You have the CopperWanker terms all mixed up.
Pursuit Barina....
It's Rum with Beer 'Chaser'.
Toyota made a Chaser - nothing to do with Rum, but working on one is
ably assisted by that noble spirit;-)
Maybe that's why they called the thing a Chaser?
Oh, and next set of tyres, get her some with the Kerbsaver:-)
sidewalls. Hell, then you could even buy her some mags and get
infinitesimally improved handling and a poofteenth of a Kilometre more
out of the dampers and ball joints on account of the decreased
unsprung mass. (real mags, I mean, not those poxy superheavyweight
somesortofalloy ones)

I heard they want $290 for the originals.
When I see prices like that I suspect they have a single set put-away
somewhere with no intent on actually selling them, priced out of the market
simply to get around the 8 year requirement thingy.

Ford wanted $60 per EA hubcap a few years back. I thought it was 60
bucks for the set so it was quite a rude shock when I turned up at the
parts store and was told otherwise.

And you can go back the next day to buy a replacement for the one you have
already lost.

Not a bad mark up on an item that costs less than $10.00 ea to make.
When I used to deliver hubcaps to Toyota about 2 yrs ago they paid $7.00
ea for them and that included the suppliers profit.

just drive along any highway
there is always someone with a display of hubcaps on their front fence
just grab 4 and your set
they may of course all be different, just tell the wife it's "individual
styling" and give her a "Crazy Bitch" sticker for the rear wiondow and
she'll be the evny of all her friends
