LOL!

"The new Camry has a longer wheelbase, wider wheel tracks, stiffer body
and, according to Toyota, ****Formula One-inspired aerodynamic
improvements to aid stability****

Well when u spent over 2 BILLION dollars on F1 and counting its fair
enough statement...

And this:

"and has a high-class, Lexus-inspired interior."

It will easily be # 1 in USA leaving the accord and Taurus in the dust
but here in Oz NO,

Fuck they just cannot get the proportions or 'stance' right! Looks too
narrow of track, too short of wheelbase, and the wheels just look too
small. In reality it's probably none of those, it just looks like it would
fall over if you worked it. Lexus ES300, new Hilux, current Camry, Echo
sedan, all the same.
....and all this chasing younger buyers & having a more dynamic image
bullshit! They say that every time they release a new fucking hubcap
design! A pure cut & paste job from the last new Camry press blurb back in
2001!

Damm right LOL - a stiffer body - than WHAT??
Every single car ever built has been advertised as having a 'stiffer
body' blah blah blah.

Surely by now, the Camry should be as stiff as a solid billet of HT
steel.
Ergo, the next model will be as stiff as a solid billet of what -
Titanium?
DU?

Those marketing jerkoffs actually prevent sales with their perverse
bullshit claims, IMO.
Like, is the owner of a current Camry, who bought it because it was
'stiffer' going to rush out and buy one even 'stiffer' than his
current model.
Nope - because deep down, he knows that because Toyota was actually
able to make the new one 'stiffer', his car was shite when he bought
is based on the marketing jerkoffs lies and so, too, would the new one
be.

So how come the Camry outsold the Falcon in December?

Ext User(David Z)
12-01-2006, 05:24 PM
The Camry isn't a large car, its a mid-size. And plenty of people want a
4-cylinder one, but also plenty of people want a V6. And thats Toyotas big
mistake - dropping the V6. I think the new Camry would have had the
potential to reach number 1 here in Australia, or perhaps number 2 , had
they decided to go with a V6 as well. Just look at December's sales
figures - Camry outsold the Falcon for the first time since.... ever?!

How long till you stop playing your banjo, spit out the tobacco and realise
that FWD isn't that bad, infact, it's quite good.

I drive them at work. The 4cyl Camry is like a 4cyl VH commo. Well under
powered, which means you put your foot down harder to get it going and use
more fuel. What a waste it was to drop the 6. The 6cyl versions aren't bad,
pitty fwd though.

I would not touch a midsize or large car with a 4 potter under the hood.
Thats why the mrs and I are looking at the new Sonata V6 to replace the
Mazda SP23.

I just want Toyota to drive it first before releasing it this time around.

Its hard to believe that the current model go t so many basics wrong.

Shiny toyota badge on tjhe steering wheel - to reflect the sun back in your
face. The same for shiny plastics on the dashboard. Drive in a direct East
direction late in the arvo to see what I mean.

Lack of adjustment in the driving position. Ridiculously large footrest.
Handbrake on the left hand side.

Simple things to correct - but would make such a difference to the car

In that case - the world has gone crazy. How can anyone compare the Camry to
