Anyone used the Nokia 6225 CDMA in a car kit?

Whats the coverage like with the induction loop arrangement for the
external antenna, as opposed to the proper antenna connection in the
older Nokia (6385 etc)? I see this induction loop setup is the only
option in the Nokias at present.

Bought one of these phones for our overseer the other day, and have
had very vague information from Telstra about the car kit as far as
coverage is concerned. Some sales people have told me it's no better
than the phones internal antenna, which sort of defeats the main
reason I want a car kit! Other Telstra people tell me they work
really well, which gets me a bit edgey..

I hope to god we start seeing phones with proper antenna connections
at some stage. I think LG are one of the few left with a proper
external antenna connection at present (in CDMA, at least).

If you speak to Nokia, no CDMA phone works with an external aerial. But
after researching this for a few months I have found that they do indeed
work.

I can't comment on the Nokia 6225 but I have a Nokia 2280 which is used
in a CARK-126 car kit. The antenna is stuck on the windscreen with a
square box glued to the other side of it.

When in the kit the signal strength bars barely move up. I might be
walking near the car and have say 3 bars. Usually they don't go above 3,
maybe 4 bars at the most.

So, I'm not sure if it's really doing anything or not. Put it this way,
the other day the missus unscrewed the antenna when she took the car
through the carwash. She forgot to put it back on. I didn't notice this
for a day or so. The signal strength stayed the same. Phone worked fine.

Did you see my note about my Nokia 2280 (CDMA) and the CARK-126 Nokia
car kit? If not, it doesn't seem to matter whether the antenna's
connected or not, or whether the phone's in the cradle or not, the
signal strength rarely increases.

Two rules for success: 1. Don't tell everything you know.

Call the (unqualified) installer, you used, and tell him to fix the problem.
A correctly installed aerial will make a difference, when you are in a
marginal area. Maybe if the idiot users, (like you), used qualified
tradesmen, instead of the cheapest, you wont have these problems.
