View Full Version : Any $0 p/m plans out there?

I'm looking for a $0 p/m plan. Don't care about call costs!
If the SIM is free that would be an added bonus, but I am prepared to pay a
once off fee for that to get the $0p/m plan if required.
Any pointers?

You're in luck - there seem to be a few out there at the moment. Be
careful though - some have penalties for unused or low-use accounts.
Unison Mobile

North Queensland Telecom

Southern Cross Telco

TransACT TransMOBILE

Dodo Mobile

GOtalk

AAPT (available if bundled with a fixed line service)

I assume you're after a post-paid service, but there's a lot to be said
for iSIM pre-paid. Just need to recharge $10 every 6 months.

That's a strange mixture, unless you're after a "glove-box" plan.

Try a pre-paid. If it is low monthly cost for farkall calls that you're looking
for, that's where the best deals are. Just watch how long the credit expiry
period is, as there is a min recharge which still equates to a cost per month.

Or make few calls and mostly receive them.

No point with so many $0/month plans.

No it isnt, because they all have some effective monthly charge.

So isnt $0/month.

They go hand in hand, most $0 plans are glovebox plans

both my parent are still on a no plans vodafone
they rarely make calls at all , its just for the sake of them having a phone
so we can find em when they are out and about
or maybe if they really need to make a call when they are out instead of
going and finding a pay phone

Yeah, I have one myself.

Yeah, wish more did it like that.

Yep, by far the best approach, easy for the car to break,
want to ask someone still at home about the fine detail of
what you are out to buy, where some place is etc etc etc.
IMO you'd be mad to not have a $0 per month sim with
you every time you go out, just for the convenience.
I keep my lists in the mobile handset too so dont bother
with anything else except the wallet and keys anymore,
dont even bother with a watch anymore.

If you just want to have incoming calls then here is the best solution:
Buy a vodafone prepaid sim from Dicksmith or other vodafone outlet. Activate it to get 2 months to recharge on a particular plan. After that, you have 365 days to recharge, all while you can receive incoming calls. So basically: $2 = 14 months of incoming calls.
I know u asked for a $0 month plan, but just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.

The unison sim makes a lot more sense, no cost
at all if you dont make any calls. Lasts forever too.

Yeah, I hardly ever check it, gets so much spam.
I basically check it when someone says what you just said in this post.
Got it in the list, no seeds currently.

The Gmail spam filter catches 99.9% of the spam sent to
horacewachope@gmail.com (and it gets hundreds a day), and has only ever
wrongly spam-filtered a single solitary email in its entire time (an
edition of Crikey, strangely enough).
I remember you saying something about not liking how Google "reads" your
email to target advertisements, but it might suffice just for a Usenet
email address? I think you can set up free email forwarding from Gmail to
your normal account as well, so you could use it in effect as a spam-filter
and email alias?
I agree re Yahoo. My Yahoo inbox gets as much spam (if not more) than my
spam folder, and things regularly get sorted into the spam folder that
aren't in fact spam.
I am impressed with the Gmail spam management though.
I'm sure you're probably already got a Gmail account, but on the off-chance
you (1) don't actually have one; (2) want to have a look at Gmail; (3) need
an invite, let me know.
