After exhaustive testing I have determined my PTAE700 keeps losing sync on
some video footage through component. If I use the S-Video input it doesn't
seem to miss a beat.

At first I thought it was the upconversion that takes place from my Yamaha
RX-V757 but ruled this out because i was connecting the signal direct to the
projector and it was still evident. I did also rule cables out by using a
different cable.

Has anyone had this problem?

When running the service mode of the projector I would always get no sync
messages. The no syncs would only last a second or less.

I have noted that if I use video tapes that I had recorded foxtel on the
error would be more frequent.
On foxtel digital normal viewing I have not encountered the problem but it
does occur when I watch box office movies. This is really weird.

Can anyone shed some light on what the difference in the sync signal would
be on these transmissions.

I am going to contact Panasonic but suspect they will just ask me to bring
it in for testing. I have already encountered problems with panasonic
service in the past so not looking forward to sending it for check.

What about your DVD player?

I've never heard of this problem before so I doubt its the AE700

Does it happen when you play DVDs or only when you view Foxtel? Foxtel
box-office movies are macrovision protected and it's likely that's the
issue.

Yeah apparently it is a problem common to this model. There are some posts
about it in the forums on the Digitals Broadcasting Australia web site. It
is the reason I waited till they brought out the new model. Don't think they
fix it it's an inherent problem. Think it can be overcome by sticking to the
one input source each time you turn it on. If you swith between HDMI,
S-Video, composite you'll increase your chances of the problem.

Check the forum for details.
