They did that over a year ago in the name of bicycle safety. They put
in a new bike lane, thus making the road safer for all, as cyclists were
now separate from faster traffic, then the speed limit was lowered. If
the speed limit was going to change after the new bike lane was put in,
it should've been raised. Mobile cameras were out in force the day
after the drop.

Hmm I thought it was due to druggies who lived in the housing
commission stuff on Northbourne running out and getting hit by cars
when they were high

The media release from Urban Services said it was for bicycle safety,
but now that you mention it, druggies may have been a reason. That
wouldn't have been too politically correct for US to say though hey :-)
