Hi,

Just wondering if someone else with a 94 camry has had similar problems to what I am having... I just wanna know if anything else is about to happen that I should know about.

I purchased the car 13 months ago at 220 000ks it now has 230 000ks.
First 12 months, it went without a single problem (i had most of the stuff done when I bought the car to get a road worthy and had a mechanic check it out fully).

I returned home after a trip away (the was parked for the the 3 weeks I was away). Seemed to be going fine, but:

About 15 days later the Air conditioner compressor decided to kark it. Had that replaced. Then a day later, the drivers front window decided it wasnt going to hold anymore... needed a new window regulator... had that replaced.
its now been 5 days since that, and the rear right hand window has also decided it would not like to stay up.

I want to konw if there are some major problems on the horizon, little ones like this have just about managed to deplete my bank account, I would prefer to walk and have some money by selling the car than have something else go wrong with it.

Had the car serviced and the mechanic said nothing else SHOULD go wrong.... but as much as I would like to beleive the mechanic I would rather hear it from a Camry owner.

Thanks for your help ppl

Mate. The car is 12 years old. Toyota or otherwise, you're gonna have
dramas.

I have not got a Camry but from my experience with the few cars I've had
including a Toyota things go wrong with cars just like you mention ,one
after another.I usually get rid of the car when all things start to break
and fall off because you will forever be forking out the cash from now on.
Notice how it is always 2 or 3 lightbulbs blow close in time to eachother in
your house? I think the expiry date of certain things hit the mark around
the same time and bam it all happens.Actually my Toyota had the compressor
go the drivers window winder and the rear shockies go at once the tyres
needed replacing at that time as well so I just traded it in for a good
price and left the dealer with the problems and started again.

Thanks for the help guys. But I wanted advice from someone with a camry specifically. If i could afford a newer car, I probably would have bought one. The simple fact is, I can't. yes its 12 years old, but I had a 16 yo car for 3 years in New Zealand and with about 20 000 more kms, never had anything go wrong with it.

The problems would have to be camry specific I would assume, as for the general age thing, I have already had the Suspension etc redone.

Thanks once again for your help

Due to its age you can expect these sort of issues to come up. Yeah, evenif
its a mighty Toyota Camry. I wouldnt hold your hopes too high for no more
issues but seeing as its at that age things will go wrong. Id hang on to
it, the car may have the occasional issue but you live with that in a car of
that era.

If its runnign sweet Id tend to keep it and run it into the ground. Probably
some 100,000kms away.

These problems are likely to occur on any car of that age, not just a camry.
I wouldn't expect anything major unless it has a hard life, but things like
window regulators, aircon, alternator, starter, suspension bushes, interior
switches, etc, could pop up anywhere in the next several years..

My wife has a 94 Camry.

It's done around 170k and she has looked after it really well
regarding service's etc.

All that has gone wrong in that time is :-

1 battery

1 alternator (warrenty)

3 sets of tyres

air con tx valve

oil leak on oil cooler repaired

it's going to be traded in soon on something a bit smaller.
