I am looking at new plasma TVs. The panasonic I am leaning toward
(TH-50PX50U) has only one HDMI input. My cable box has a DVI output and
the DVD players I've been looking at have HDMI outputs. Can I hook up
both the DVI and HDMI output to the one input?

can't answer your query but will be keen to know.....

BTW have you looked at the Hitachi 55 inch? I believe it has two HDMI inputs

and displays 68 billion colours as opposed to 16.7 million

Only via a switch. Very overpriced for what they are.

I have a Panasonic 50 " TH-50PV500A (current model)and run DVD (Panasonic
S97) via HDMI upscaled to 720P or 1080i

I run a HD STB (Samsung) and Optus Digital Pay TV via Component. I dont
think you will see much of a difference (if any) between HDMI and Component
on a HD STB.

There again I have little interest in Digital FTA as there is so little true
HD/Dolby 5.1 aired plus the vandalising of content with watermarks pop ups,
etc. makes me wonder why I bought a STB at all.

BTW NEC have a 50" Plasma with two HDMI inputs. I considered it but
preferred the Panasonic which I am extremely happy with.

Are there amps around that have multiple HDMI inputs and an HDMI output to
the TV?
