What's with all these people using their phones' loudspeakers and still
holding the phones 1" from either the front of their face or 1" from their
ear? Do they think this is handsfree? I swear I saw 10 people doing it
today on the roads... see it daily.

I dunno, just seems silly to me

They're all deaf from too many concerts, that's just how they normally use
their phones ;)

Well, from my own experience, it's because the built-in handsfree
function on both of my Nokia's is crap! One doesn't even let you adjust
the volume, and both aren't that good at picking up your voice unless
reasonably close. These are phones that are only 12 months old and were
that poor from day one.

I think 1" is probably a bit too close, but mostly I have to use mine
at around shoulder height so I can hear the other person and they can
hear me.

Are there any phones out there that have a built-in handsfree function
that works well?

Probably any phone NOT made by Nokia

My Motorola 620 works great, I can have it sitting on the dash clip and
hear and talk normally

My wife's Samsung slide has an external speaker module that clips to the
side
it works very well to

But neither will out do a real handsfree vehicle kit

My Motorola V3's speaker function is very good.

You realise that holding a phone, even with "hands free mode", is still
gonna cop you a fine?

Buy a BlueAnt Supertooth, and be amazed at your Nokia all over again. I use
it constantly, with voice tags and different profiles for handsfree/handset
operation and its all smooth as silk.

There's this dozy fat lebbo bitch that alternates between sticking the
phone next to her mouth then her ear on the train to work every day.
Same conversation every morning. caught me shaking my head in amazement
and disgust and burbled some dribble about how aussies hate lebbo
girls.
No, we just hate fat lebbo girls with mobiles surgically attached to
their hands and a mouth that never stops moving.

All my Nokias have been great with the inbuilt hands free. The trick is
working out where the mic is for it.
