For all those poor suckers like me who've been washing their car with a damn
bucket I just check the website (ourwater.vic.gov.au) and found you can wash
your car with a hose as long as it has a trigger nozzle. This applies to vic
only, I'm not sure about other states. Check here for more info
http://www.ourwater.vic.gov.au/CA256F310024B628/0/183BFD79A17529C6CA256FB80014CEDF/$File/PWSR_Vehicle_Cleaning+Fact+Sheet.pdf
or
http://tinyurl.com/hsdlp
For all those who are about to reply with "this is old news" don't bother
I'm sure it is but I'm sure there's other's here who will find this info
useful.

surprised you noticed. It's been this way for quite awhile. It was even on
the news.

This came in when they brought in the new permanent water restrictions,
last August IIRC. Many laws regarding when you can water your garden in
Vic have changed, so it's a good idea to check them out.

Read a newspaper now and then and you might not have to wait 6 months next
time :)

Yes of course, but you will find it much better to use old cloths and
rags, a hose is hard, and will damage the paintwork:-)

Mary had a little lamb
She put it in a bucket
And every time that it fell out
Her dog would try to put it back in again

Yeah, you can use 100 buckets of water to wash your car ... just make sure
you don't use a hose!

Yeah, I did, but it didn't cover you for being 6 months behind the rest of
the world :)

She had another little lamb,
and it was always gruntin'.
So she tied it up to her back fence,
and kicked it's little cunt in :)

Correction. That applies in _Sydney_ and perhaps some other areas, but not
all of NSW.

The state of infrastructure in New South Wales is a disgrace.
I'm a Libran Engineer. I don't argue, I discuss.

Whoops, you are correct.
Not that there is anything outside Sydney. ;-)

Indeed. I just need to visit my parents way down south to be able to
wash my car without feeding a machine $2 coins. :/

Prezactly, it is fairly stupid situation as using buckets could use a
whole lot more water. OTOH, the work aspect causes some people to never
wash their cars. I IIRC have not washed my vehicle since early Jan or so
out at Orange. If I need to (ie: salt contamination from driving on the
beach or so) It's hose down in garage with door closed.

Can you fill the bucket with a hose though?

I only use three buckets of non-recycled water to wash my Honda MDX SUV. And
two buckets for my Mazda Astina.
Washing with a hose consumes more water.
