- Mike Sargent, WBAI.
<I>Billions of dollars of illegally hoarded government funds lie hidden and almost forgotten.
Protected by firewalls, passwords and the most advanced security systems on Earth, the funds are untouchable. Well, almost.
With the right people and the perfect plan, CIA operative Gabiel Shear (Travolta) is sure he can steal it.
But it will take more than a dozen mercenaries, massive weaponry and hostages to obtain it. It'll require the mind of superhacker, Stanley Jobson (Jackman), the only man capable of accessing the cache known to insiders as <B>Swordfish</b>.
Brace yourselves for the intense, unrelenting, most anticipated thriller of the year, starring John Travolta (The General's Daughter), Hugh Jackman (X-Men), Halle Berry (X-Men) and Don Cheadle (Traffic).
<B>"It's violent, it's slick and it is classy entertainment."</b></i>- Paul LePetit, The Sunday Telegraph.

SWORDFISH is presented in an aspect of 2.35:1 and is 16:9 enhanced.
Wow! This really does look awesome folks. Full credit to all involved in giving us such a superb looking picture on this DVD and I'm sure most (if not all) of you are going to love this transfer when you see it for yourself.
This is one very clear, sharp and well detailed picture with just about every form of blemishes, marks or any other kind of imperfections being almost non existent. It is one very clean transfer.
This movie is loaded with very full and rich colours and superb shading. There's plenty of examples to choose from, but the paint job on Travolta's car looks awesome as do the colours of the desk area/computer screens in chapter 17. The image has a slightly tinted effect to it which works very well.

SWORDFISH has a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack.
The quality doesn't stop with the video as the audio is pretty sweet too. There's a nice audio mix here with all speakers getting a work out.
Speech is clear, easy to understand and in sync as well as being well suited to the screen.
The front soundstage is broad and does feature a bit of directional sound and panning between speakers. The sub also rumbles with some good bass when called on and the rears are used very well to surround you in the action as well as provide atmosphere with the more subtle surround effects and music tracks. Speaker interaction between front and back as well as left to right is used well.
Overall, it's a very good sound track that does the movie justice.

<center><B>Extra features…..</b></center>
<I> <B>Director Commentary by Dominic Sena</I></b> - Very informative and easy to follow. He gives a lot of detail about the production of the movie and I found it very interesting. Well worth checking out.
<I> <B>The Effects In Focus </I></b> - Various crew talk about the "flying bus" scene and the viewer is shown how a lot of it was done. Full screen, Dolby 2.0 and runs for about 8 mins.
<I><B> The Making of Swordfish</i></b> - Behind the scenes footage, cast and crew talking about the show. Full screen, Dolby 2.0 and about 15 minutes.
<I> <B>Alternate Endings with or without Director's Commentary</i></b> - 2 alternate endings that have an option to listen to the Director's comments in which he explains why they didn't use them. Widescreen, Dolby 2.0 and very average audio/visual quality.
<I> <B>Theatrical Trailer </i></b> - Nice trailer shown in widescreen and Dolby 2.0
<I><b>DVD ROM </I></b> Takes you online to the Warner Bros & Operation Swordfish sites where you'll eventually be able to access a bunch of extra info and interactive content.
<I><B>Cast & Crew.</i></b> - Choose major cast to be shown a list of their "previous operations" (Filmographies)
<I><B> Exclusive Rove Live Interview with John Travolta and Hugh Jackman</i></b> - Very enjoyable interview that really pics up when Travolta comes out and joins Jackman to tell a few stories about filming and other things not related to the movie. They have a lot of fun and muck around and we even get a bit of a Grease song from them. Nice quality picture in widescreen and Dolby 2.0. Just over 23 minutes.

<center><B>Overall…..</b></center>
SWORDFISH is an entertaining movie that should easily please.
The cast all perform well and there is plenty of action to keep you entertained. Some of the action scenes such as the "Matrix" style scene at the beginning have a pretty good "WOW factor" to them and that scene in particular will blow you away (heh, heh) .
The actual story itself holds up well, and progressed pretty quickly without suffering from any dull moments.
This SWORDFISH DVD is a must see. The audio visual content of the main feature is top notch and the extra features are a worthy addition to the DVD.
Check out this DVD as soon as you can. It's a beauty!
