My licence renewal came in the mail today and apparently I get a 25%
discount for being on zero demerit points. Not bad, that equates to a whole
$35.60 saving on a bullshit fee.

Stop yer whingeing - $132 gets you 5 yrs in NSW, and no discount for zero
points.

I just looove this sort of shite.
Consider a cabbie or another profes.driver.
On the road all day/night every day/night.
Vs Grandma.
On the road for a few hours a quarter.

Both subject to the same Scam.

Grannie wins! Because grannie's chance of getting points is
infinitesimal when compared with the cabbie.
That should be considered specially in terms of the bastardry that is
stupid arbitrary speed limit enforcement chicanery.
Reflect on just how disgusting a system like that is in terms of
natural justice.
And yes, NJ *is* in there, because GovCo should be mindful of it in
everything it does since it runs the judicial system anyway.

Bloody hell, the same imbecile criminals who doctor the stats to point
to whatever they prefer to play with, hard at work in yet another
field.
Amazing.
And just another GovCo Scam.

Naturally, this is a set-up.
When enough people bitch about the inequality of it all, GovCo will
plead that they have no way of knowing how many hours/Kms a driver is
on the roads for.
Then they'll have to introduce RFID stuff so they can tell - to grant
us a discount for their fees and charges, you'll understand.
And then---you guessed it---- GovCo will then mis-use the system,
built on popular (but of course powered by Greesy Self-Interested Dumb
and Dumber who never see the MainGame demand) to play the (reading
this JIT?) UserPaysPays Scam yet again.

Great.

ok ok, I guess there would be some costs involved in maintaining a huge
database of licenses etc so the cost is fairly reasonable.

Pfftt - yeah right.
ITYF most of the 'cost' is in penalising drivers for some shite or
other.
Without the admin overheads of punishment stuff, I could store and set
up renewals of the entire thing on my PC because the only maintenance
would be with renewals, ins and outs.

But this crime and punishment thing is very costly in many other ways.
More so than education of the public could ever be. It's just that
GovCo would rather pass the parcel and the taxpayer funds to their
donor pals rather than have to stand up and justify costs of that
education in IMPORTANT matters relating to society.
Maybe it's cicken and egg. Dumb and dumper, created by GovCo in the
first place might well now be a majority that doesn't understand
they're dumb and dumber.

How is your PC going to handle taking photos of drivers all over australia,
answering the many calls, posting out new licences etc?

Still a piece of piss.
But anyway, in TobyWorld doesn't need control freak crap like
mugshots.
Licences here are simply a document indicating affirmation of
competency in driving through proper instruction and testing, no more
no less.

So, effectively now they are punishing you 3 times for the same offence.
Once by fining you initially, secondly by giving you demerit points
(which add up to losing a license), and thirdly by charging you more for
your license renewal. Three penalties for the one offence, surely that
would be against the vibe of the constitution.

One might argue that the driver who is on the road more should contribute more
to the operation of the road network... In this era of "user pays... and pays,
and pays and pays and pays", we're probably lucky that they don't charge for
licences based upon distance driven...

Believe me, we're only lucky because GovCo hasn't figured out/doesn't
have the technology to stick that one up us. Yet.
Because it will as soon as it's possible.
Has to be said, the Insurance Shysters will be following close behind
GovCo.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if 'studies' and test equipment will be
supplied by the Shysters to, as you'll understand out of the goodness
of their black hearts, assist GovCo in proving the feasibility of such
a scheme.
And yes, I predict the aus.motorist will dutifully bend over to accept
the 'new safety initiatives' pushed at them.
As always.
(Safety initiative? - think fatigue - one of the Fatal Four.)

Vibe?
Maybe - depends on whether you know that our (Scam - yes, waay back
then) convention used 'some' facets of the US constitution and
Forelock-tuggers common law but conveniently in the final analysis
ignored anything and everything to do with citizens rights.
So, in Spirit and letter, not a chance.
The constitution was set up by the states remember - the convention
was an abject failure for the 'people', as any future conventions will
be because of who sets them up.
Effectively the aus.constitution says GovCo can ram a red hot poker up
the arse of any citizen it decides to so honour - the haggling was
all about just wich GovCo could do it first.
