Even the US Republicans smell a rat.
The sorry details of this episode are that Howard
took his nation to war on a lie, helping to slaughter 100,000
once living human beings, to arrest a single dictator that he was
personally bankrolling.

# Yes, the moral grandstanding about the AWB affair is at odds with past
history of Western dealings with Iraq as a whole - where the once-acceptable
Saddam Hussein was OK when fighting Iran, but became a bad boy when he
invaded Kuwait.
[ As past-President Theodore Roosevelt frankly put it when commenting about
a South American dictator - "He may be a SOB, but at least he's our SOB." ]
What with the vicious sanctions imposed on Iraq, the strafing of "no-fly
zones", and invasion - the AWB matter fades into insignificance. The AWB
bent the rules, maybe, to ensure sales, but a misdemeanour when compared
with the overall picture.
AWB was once the Australian Wheat Board, one of many such bodies, which
was a government organisation to ensure orderly marketing and a fair and
general price for an Australian product (not scarcity and glut). Now it is
not only privatised, but likely to lose its monopoly. Back to the anarchy
of the capitalist market place.

Sgt Shultz said in such a tone, everyone understood it as he knew everything
that was going on.

I think this episode just goes to prove the lack of integrity of our
"government" as a whole. This includes the "opposition" that operates in
the same corrupt environment. I hope this is motivation for the Australian
population at large not to trust the major federal political incumbents and
their backers, and to put up their own candidates or otherwise do something
as radical that will probably then motivate the "government" to activate
their new "anti-terrorism laws" against Australians who dare criticise or
remove their support for political and economic criminals.

Ruddock specials:
"Attorney-General Philip Ruddock, ...said yesterday that policy should
not be dictated by public opinion"
"Simply having a national system of identification does not mean that
your privacy ought to be compromised"
"It doesn't have to follow that the introduction of a national ID card
would have any impact on privacy at all".

Dictated? Ought to? Would have?
This guy has turned gibberish into an art form.

Lucifer was God's right hand angel but he changed. Saddam changed and so did
Howard. Now who is the evil one?

You're right. And I would consider suggesting others (like Burkhalter
or Hochstedter), but even comparing him to the weathervane on top of
Klink's office would be an insult (to the weathervane, of course).
