What I want to know is why Collingdood think Jeff White is worth
$2,4000,000 over three seasons??? And even more amazingly, why the fuck
did White re-sign with Melbourne for $1,500,000 for three seasons?

ANDREW SIEGERT (out of contract)
DYLAN SMITH (delisted)
TROY COOK (out of contract)
SHANE PARKER (out of contract)
DANIEL GILMOUR (out of contract)
*Two other players out of contract

I like all of those players - some of them lots.

I wouldn't be surprised if we rookie list Smith or something absurd like
that. We almost always do that.

I in the end agreed with the idea that Daniel Gilmore wasn't a backman
after Anthony Jones kicked six goals on him in a half. Good on the
rebound, but really should be able to defend slightly better. I'd still
like to hold onto him, though.

Losing Cook or Paker would be disastrous. I'm still a big fan of Siegert.

You'd think they'd have learnt after throwing all that cash at Woey.

I don't think they have the team to spend so much money on one ruckman.

Sometimes to make room in the salary cap, that needs to be done. Sadly for
the players. If Hayden and/or Haddrill are injured next year, and are
eligible for the long term injury list, then Smith will come off the rookie
list before anyone else.

Cook and Parker last I heard were still negotiating deals. I can't see
either taking their chances in the draft. But it does beg the question -
if not re-signed, why weren't they put up for trades? A simple answer is
that they are "required players" (gotta love the jargon these days), and
will be re-signed.

So, I can't see either of those two going through the draft to another
club.

Siegert did get better as the season progressed, but only because as a
fringe player he had to.

Gilmore probably will stay as well.

The Age mentions 2 other players out of contract. It wouldn't surprise me
if they weren't that up to date and one of those two was Medhurst, who has
re-signed. The Age is like the Herald Sun but taking two tram/train seats
to read it instead of one... I don't put a lot of faith in it, though more
than the Worst Australian.

Yet the Doods need a ruckman. A real atheletic, run all day ruckman. Not
an old, over-weight, injury prone, ex forward, or to the other extreme an
old, under-weight, injury prone, ex forward....

If they're that keen then Primus is avaliable.

They do need a good ruckman or two, but they need more than that. IMO,
you don't spend that much $$$ to lock in a 28yo ruckman for four years
unless you expect to win a flag during that time. I rate White, but the
'doods don't have the midfield to feed off him so getting him is
pointless. Much rather go with a gun running brigade and good ordinary
ruckmen, the likes of which have won most of the GFs of the 2000s.

The Worst was good value yesterday, with that pic of Rashad Tucker
waving hello to Scott Fisher, - and that pic of Abel Xavier who is
apparently on drugs. i wonder what tipped them off :)

You're right that it's stupid and a waste of money for a club in
Collingwood's position to be trying to get a player like White, but that's
what they do best...get out the cheque book...

They've got Guy Richards who's a reasonable player and Josh Fraser can pinch
hit there...I think they probably need one more, maybe they'll pick Pat
Ryder, an aboriginal ruckman from East Freo (they seem to have all the good
kids!) with one of their early picks...

They've got a good system going on there, but I think not as good as at
the Sandringham Dragon Factory.

As Deker says, they need a good, ordinary ruckman. Pool the Clokes'
combined talents into one player and they still aren't quite ordinary.

From all I've heard they're likely to have 4 first round picks this year
with Pat Ryder, Josh Kennedy, Andrew Swallow and Mitchell Clarke all being
highly rated...the first two might even be top 5 picks.

am i the only one who rates Travis? I know even Jason showed a bit
playing loose across HB early on, but Travis has looked good on occasion
at CHF. Presented, contested and held a fair few of his marks and
despite his name and dopey mug, for a kid of that age, playing that
posi, it's pretty much all you can ask for.

P.S. I agree with you on Travis.
