Kind of...although it's a bit of a farce that most of the top players
haven't put their hand up and the likes of Dale Morris are getting in
there...(WHO ARE YA?!)

The games are usually pretty enjoyable and entertaining to watch...that said
I'll be going to the Melbourne Victory match on Friday week rather than the
IR game at TD...

was gonna give it a big miss, but now that sheeds has
decided to go with a side made up pretty much of the best
fast, young, silky-skilled aboriginal excitement machines
playing in the AFL today, I will definately watch it on tv,
even though the slowest black person on the team is from Freo.

Sheedy is using the game to get a close look at players he wants to poach
in the future.

Much better to see them for yourself in a training/game situation than to
make decisions from a distance.

Very few...there are lots of midgets like Brent Harvey and Buchanan, but the
only real talls are Fletcher, Croad, Waite and Kepler Bradley. It's
disappointing that most of the guns like Aker, Judd and Kerr aren't going to
be playing, and there's no real tough guys or enforcers in the team...I
would've liked to see Hamill, Big Bad Bustlin' Barry, Jonathon Brown and
Byron in the team just to put the wind up 'em...I don't know what Makepeace,
Newman and Dale Morris are doing in there.

....And if they're going to put in every exciting young Aboriginal player why
not stick Lance Franklin and Eddie Betts?!

The squad is: Heath Black (Fremantle), Amon Buchanan (Sydney), Trent Croad
(Hawthorn), Aaron Davey (Melbourne), Nick Davis (Sydney), Brett Deledio
(Richmond), Nathan Eagleton (Western Bulldogs), Dustin Fletcher (Essendon),
Daniel Giansiracusa (Western Bulldogs), Lindsay Gilbee (Western Bulldogs),
Shannon Grant (Kangaroos), Brent Harvey (Kangaroos), Luke Hodge (Hawthorn),
Chris Johnson (Brisbane Lions), Matthew Lappin (Carlton), Andrew Lovett
(Essendon), Andrew McLeod (Adelaide), Troy Makepeace (Kangaroos), Darren
Milburn (Geelong), Brent Moloney (Melbourne), Dale Morris (Western
Bulldogs), Chris Newman (Richmond), Ryan O'Keefe (Sydney), Russell Robertson
(Melbourne), Jarrad Waite (Carlton), Daniel Wells (Kangaroos), Kepler
Bradley (Essendon).

Have a look at this pic of our new goalkeeper...has Sheedy finally got to
him and caused him to lose it too?!

There's a bigger version of the pic on the front page at the moment too...

lol. typical sheedy type media shot.

looking at the list it doesn't seem too good and i wasn't expecting big
guys like hamill, brown and co to play. fletcher will be a hopless goal
keeper. doesn't move quick enough and he's all arms and legs.

I guess it's no crime to speak on a subject about which you have no clue
but... Australia has gone down the meat head selection track in the past and
been soundly spanked by a smaller, faster team in a game that rewards speed
and agility over brute strength. As for Makepeace, how many times in a
season does he have to spank your mob before you realise that you have maybe
two players tops worth trading for him?

Ah well, at least you were not alone in bitching about Sheed's
selections. But time for big-time backpedalling now!

He's the guy that shut down Andrew Macleod when Adelaide played the Doggies
in
Round 5, 2005. Happened to be Chris Grant's 300th game as well.

No one outside of the Western Bulldogs knows who he is.....and we don't
care...just
because you don't know him, doesn't mean he can't play. Which makes you
underestimate him.
He shut down (you guys better get familiar with saying that phrase when it
comes to Dale Morris) the captain of the Irish
team...which it seems was a game breaker.

Guido, Morris, Eagleton and the Gilbee....can't wait for 2006.

As for the supposed flogging.....geez guys love to predict things.....if
only more people could predict stock prices.

As for choosing a bunch of nobodies.....fancy having Peter Everitt and Dean
Cox try and chase the little fellas around....got to think
before you speak.

the selections were what made me consider watching the game this year.

Look, he may be a reasonable tagger, but he was on your rookie list at the
start of the year, and while he had a decent debut season, wasn't good
enough to earn a Rising Star nomination, despite at 22 being a few years
older than most of the players he was up against for a nomination. He might
become a good player, he might not, but that's what I'm saying, it's too
early to tell and at this stage I think there are a number of players who
should have been selected ahead of him. Speaking of which...where was Ryan
Griffen? I would've liked seeing him play.

You're giving him far too much credit there, Dex. It was a great team
performance. He was alright, but not one of the best players by any stretch
of the imagination.

Settle down Dex, no one suggested having ruckmen in the team...they've been
proven in the past as pretty much useless at IR.

Pffffft!!! Makepeace did play well against us this year, but if you think
we've only got two players worth trading for him, then you should open your
other eye. He's a very good, extremely consistent, no frills back
pocket/half-back, but he's no star. He's a hard-working player who gets the
most out of his talent.

As for going down the "meat head" selection path, Barry's played the game
before and done well, Hamill would probably do well as he's reasonably quick
as well as tough, Byron's got pace, skill and speed so I see no problem
there...Jonathon Brown's the only one who might not be that suited to the
game, but that said if you put the ball in his vicinity I'm sure he'd win
the ball most of the time. I wasn't suggesting you stack the team full of
enforcers, but it might be nice to stick one or two in there. Tell me you
didn't enjoy Russell Robinson's (FFS BT, it's Robertson!) shirt front?!!
