View Full Version : Irish shouldn't bother

An embarrassing display of thuggery last night. Australia won the game, but
lost a great deal of respect as a so-called "sporting" nation imo.

Pfft. The composite game has so little of interest, to grow a little hair on
its balls could only be beneficial.

Only because we were stupid enough to name Johnson as (co-)captain.
Apart from his idiocy (typical behaviour), the Irish were in it just as
deep, though they're obviously not so used to either dealing it out or
receiving it.
(While the coathanger was worse than it looked at the game at the time,
funny how the nastier follow-up was virtually ignored because they
didn't have sexy footage of it. I make it 550 points, and straight to
the tribunal, for the two respectively...)
But I did enjoy the game greatly otherwise.

Meh...From what I saw the Irish came out to play a physical game but didn't
know how.
One (ok 2) big hits by Johnson was all that was really hard. the rest of the
game
seemed to be us retaliating.
Nothing like a boot in the balls to show who was the real dirty side.
Their Coach was always gunna have a whinge, he stated before the first match
he
didn't like the whole concept.
I personally like the game and recon it could be a good concept for the
soccer boys to play in the summer to make their game interesting
Thr AFL should sponsor and promote it

I'm there to watch a game of sport. If I wanted to see people knocking their
heads off I'd watch some kickboxing, boxing or MMA.
You seem to have forgotten that this is _football_, pharro.

i think the Irish tried to match it, but it was pretty obvious that sort of
violence isn't part of their makeup. On the sporting field, anyway.
It was ridiculous to be able to replace Johnson after getting the red card.

why was that ? Because it's not something they expect to deal with when
playing a game with rules.

no. It looked like we were itching to put them off their game by starting
the fights

good. I don't like the concept either. Still doesn't mean two
representational teams can't play a game in the right sporting spirit. This
world already has enough boofheads in sport.

Not sure you understood what I meant here. I feel it is a softer game
than Aussie rules but watchable.
Soccer is a softer game again and unwatchable, they could adapt this game
to theirs to make it watchable.
