gfc.com.au
Geelong will face Carlton in its opening NAB Cup clash of 2006. The Cats will tackle the reigning pre-season premier at Telstra Dom on Saturday 25 February. The contest will start at 7:40pm.

Geelong last faced Carlton in the pre-season in the second round of 2004, with the Cats running out comfortable 20 point winners. Matthew McCarthy kicked four goals that day and received great support from Ling and Scarlett. Geelong went on to reach the grand final of the competition that year.

The winner of the game will face the winner of the Sydney - Kangaroos clash. The second round will be played in Cairns on Saturday 4 March. Should Geelong go down to the Blues it will face the loser of the Swans - Roos match up.

The Cats have experience of playing in the heat of Cairns, having defeated Port Adelaide by 20 points in the opening round of the 2004 pre-season.

sheesh talk about believing your own spin!

1. The win was by no means comfortable it was tight all the way
with the Cats kicking the last goal to sneak out to 20 points!

2. They also have chalked up the win already!

still the Cats need to talk something up
they haven't won any silver for over 42 years.
it used to be the Colliwobbles but nowadays
it is definitely the CAT-astrophy
(funny how catastrophy has trophy in it
yet the Cats have none!)

Yeah, but I'd prefer to lose every game in the pre-season if it meant we had
a better H&A season next year than the reverse which we had to put up with
this year...

Well McLaren's a handy type, fills a need and let's face it, the PSD is not
going to be loaded with ripe talent this year.

As for Campo, I don't think they really hold much hope of changing his mind,
but you never know. I suspect it has more to do with giving Essendon the
shits after they tried to rape us during trade week...basically, just saying
to Sheeds that if you're going to fuck us, it's going to be on our terms!

Hopefully we can win that game as I've got a couple of mates who are Cats
fans and other than me and my brother, a family full of them...an honourable
loss at the QF stage would suit me. With regards to the financial situation,
maybe we can just find a sugar daddy like Chelsea have in the English
Premier League...

The only reason I want the crows to win is so
I can watch them again the next week.
If they lose all you get is some bad reports in the paper on the games
that are held in oona woop woop.
I hate the waiting for 4 months just to watch a loss and then
5 more weeks till round 1
