I "love" Monica. In fact, I've loved all Media Watch presenters dating
back to Stuart Littlemore, bar one (he's back from real journalism to doing
feel-good tripe and corporate propaganda - but I won't name him in case he
feels he's being defamed by my opinion of him).
It's somewhat curious that McEddie is now a fully fledged PBL puppet. He
wanted the job no one else seemed to want. The silver lining is that he
won't be commentating McEddiewood games this year.

I was pretty happy when i heard that he wouldnt be hosting The Footy Show or
commentating Collingwood games due to reasons of conflict of interests, but
the catch to that is that now he has free reign over EVERYTHING that channel
9 airs, including disgracefully sticking Ronald McDonald on a show for
toddlers in order to help get McDonalds to sponsor Collingwood. Hi5 weren't
impressed with the stunt either and I dont think many parents would be
either.
The line between Channel 9 and Collingwood is starting to become very blurry
indeed ...

Was it ever distinct and clear once Fat Ed took over the presidency
Answer: nope.

Well, before he became the Channel 9 boss he wouldn't have been able to put
Ronald McDonald on a toddlers show to get Maccas to sign a Collingwood
contract - I just meant it's going to get a lot worse than before!

the line was blurry cos Ed had one fat arse cheek on one side of the
line, and the other fat arse cheek on the other.

The irony in this whole thing is that Ronald McDonald House do a
wonderful job raising money for kids.
Also, it wasn't too long ago that the golden arches were emblazoned on
every footy used in an AFL game - before each team had their own ball
sponsors.

They do? By doing what exactly? By getting people to eat their shit?
Be real - every dollar they raise for the RM Houses means about two
extra in their own pockets. It's just the standard McDonalds hype that
they actually do it for charity.
They sell a Big Mac- which cost about 20 cents to make - for what?
$3.50? $4.00? They'll say, "10 cents from every burger sold goes to
Ronald McDonald House(s)." Admirable? Not really. You see they get
people in to buy more burgers on those days, they raise some cash for
the charity (which they'll claim back) and a shit load for themselves.
It's a smokescreen - no wonder Eddie loves them. Still, clowns attract
clowns.

Again it proves only one thing here, that utter jealousy is a curse. Eddie
IS Collingwood president get over it, he will always do his level best for
his and my beloved club. Keep your petty girlish jealousies to yourselves
please or cry yourself a river elsewhere else, like in a media or TV
newsgroup

How much profit do you make per week and how much of that do you donate?
What else do you expect but them to promote their business. And if the
donate to charity some of that, how is that a bad thing, they could put that
along with the rest in their own pockets and still sell just as many
burgers.

hmm don't knwo where you get your math from
it takes 3 people approx 1 mins to make/sell a burger
thats 3 mins at $8 ph = 40c in labor costs alone
The cost of the burger is also about 60c
The rent is $200K per year = 75c per minute
Even with 10 burgers sold per minute thats another 8c
Then they have franchise fees etc etc
I reckon a McDonalds franchisee is lucky to make $1 per burger profit
McDonalds themselves are not a burger chain
they are a property & logistics company supplying everything
to franchisees who sell burgers and are one of the worlds
biggest property chains.
gregF
btw I donate 4% of my earnings to charity every year
mostly to designated work like WELLS/WATER/LIVESTOCK
in third world countries that don't have our infrastructure
but some of it supporting the local footy club and I damn
well expect to make some business back from that

Regardless of how much profit they make themselves, they still give a
shitload of money to charity. You're a fool if you think otherwise,
regardless of whether or not you eat their shit (can't imagine what the
hell that has to do with anything).

and they have donation tins in store and at drive throughs - so it's not
just the days when they have celebs doing in-stores that they get their
donations from.

Princess Margaret Childrens Hospital - Neo Natal Unit;
WA Assoc for the Blind; and Deaf Society of WA are my charities.
I have a hard time keeping up with those and if i was able to
donate to another charity, it would be a local one again,
possibly CF, as my cuz is a CF sufferer. I'll leave world poverty
to the likes of Oprah and other celebs. I've yet to see many celebs
help out with my charities.
