The last freeware version of vsoDivxToDVD is still available at the
link below and if you want it, get in quick:

That version has major issues with its frame rate conversion that makes it
pretty much useless for anything except 25fps or 29.97fps material.
The problem was fixed in the now-commercial version (ConvertXtoDVD)

Is there a freeware replacement for VSO DivxToDVD that you would recommend?

Probably the best choice would be The FilmMachine, available from
http://members.home.nl/thefilmmachine/
It's not as one-click as ConvertXtoDVD, but it's close enough for the price
(free :-)
