An intriguing look at an American original.
Hollywood careers are full of make-or-break moments. For Clint Eastwood, one such moment came when studio powers agreed to let him make his directing debut with Play Misty for Me - provided he would direct for free. Eastwood didn't hesitate to agree.
That story and others comprise this portrait of the famed Hollywood icon, narrated by Morgan Freeman. From bit roles to Oscar gold, from 16-year-old barroom pianist to jazz emissary, from Dirty Harry controversy to western classics, to Space Cowboys, Eastwoods career is explored via a captivating array of film clips, interviews and more.

Audio/Visual….
Clint Eastwood :Out Of The Shadows is presented in an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and is 16x9 enhanced.
Being a documentary with a lot of clips from his long career I was expecting the picture quality to be pretty inconstant , but I was in for a pleasant surprise.
The image quality is mostly clean and sharp and even old black and white clips such as ones from Rawhide look really good. There are no imperfections and blemishes in the newer interview footage and the older movie clips obviously contain some imperfections here and there, but they are pretty good overall. There is slight ghosting around some of the peoples hands or shoulders in some of the interview segments such as the ones with Janet Maslin (film critic).
Colours are mostly strong and flesh tones look natural.
The audio is in Dolby 2.0 pro-logic and is dominant from the centre speaker as there is a lot of talking.
The speech is very easy to understand and is very clear.
The mains get the occasional loud sounds from clips containing action and the rears and sub don't do anything really. Don't get me wrong though as this this documentary does sound good.

Extra features…..
Nothing.
This DVD doesn't contain anything as a special feature.
A documentary would have been nice though. I'm kidding!!! Heh,heh... :-)

Overall......
Clint Eastwood is a living legend and it's so good to sit back and watch this very well detailed documentary on the man and his amazing career.
He's done a lot of things and it's good to sit here and get glimpses of them over the 87 minutes of this DVD.
The DVD provides plenty of clips from over the years and some of those all time faves are there such as those Dirty Harry quotes that every fan has said at one stage in their life.
This DVD is easily a must buy for Clint Eastwood fans and should be hired at least once by anyone who has seen any of his movies.

Thanks for reading…
