Greetings,

Is it worth getting a rear centre speaker, is it supported software wise.
What type of speaker would suit?

smithy

Well for starters you will require an Amp that can decode that extra channel
ie DTS-ES/DD EX etc. There arent too many "6.1" movies available but the
ones that are do make good use of that channel ie The Lord of the Rings
Extended editions. You definitely wont normally be getting as much info sent
to that channel as the main centre so a reasonably good centre would
suffice. Ideally if money is not too much of a problem i would get the same
centre as your main one. As a side note there are more Amps appearing with 2
"centres" or what the call "surround back left and right". These have the
ability to power 2 extra speakers so you have 4 rear speakers in total. It
all comes down to what you have and how much you want to pay. In my opinion
it is worthwhile.
