It is pronounced "wee". The name is kinda growing on me, but is has slight "negative" connotations lol. Watch the teaser on the website and the name may grow on you to. Plus the trailer is just really cool lol...

Yah these jokes are everywhere... as you can see i was awake when the announcement was made and also made every joke under the sun about it. After sleeping on it... well i still think it was a stupid name and something better could have been done.

Even "Nintendo ii" (Nintendo Ee) would have made a similar statement but without the double meanings.

HOWEVER upon waking up i do see where Nintendo was coming from with this... and... well it could work and become as mainstream as iPod.

11-12 days till E3 and we may still see the name change again. Like the StarCube and... Ultra 64 were changed after being announced.

ON a lighter side... the video kicks ass and the logo looks pretty nice. I love the name even, just not how it is pronounced.

I hate the name myself and think they should have stuck with revolution. Wii makes it sound like a cheap plastic toy that you would buy in Tokyo.

Obviously the name was designed and created by Japanese nintendo, and so they clumsily put together for the world market a marketing campaign around "we can play together". Lame lame lame. Hopefully the name doesnt effect sales and the console is that good at E3 that all will be forgiven...I wont hold my breath

The name once getting over the immaturity is sounding better. But i still do not like it. I still believe the "real" name will be announced at E3.

Matt from IGN came up with Nintendo Phoenix.

I am in love with it lol... rising from the ashes etc etc. I liked the name Revolution as a codename but not the system name. My money originally was on Nintendo RS. Revolution is too hard to say for asians is apparently the problem.

Well they have re-allowed the name again in the forums...

Wii is now trademarked and ALOT of game reporters believe there is NO way Nintendo will change the name again.
