Quite clearly it should have gone to a docker, I mean they smashed the
WCE and the game wasnt won only by a kick.

It's easy to see why the umpires are biased against us when the media is. :)

I know everyone thinks their team gets the shit end of the free kick
count, but that isn't true when they play against Freo. We should put
some stats together to see if there is any truth in it. Though with the
leveling of free kicks the umpires do during the 3rd and 4th it's always
hard to know for sure.

I think up to half time it was 2 free kicks to freo and 11-13 to WCE.

Fred. It's true that Freo had far less frees, but checking stats week after
week, and very often the team that gets less frees wins the game.

It's funny, when the Brownlow comes around people say that individual
honours don't count in a team game, yet they get all riled up if one of
"their" individuals doesn't get the medal.

Maybe there were a few Lions fans booing when Buckley got the Norm Smith
aead of Voss in the 2002 GF but I didn't notice them, and I was happy enough
to see a great player who helped to make that such a memorable game get some
recognition.

You'd think that they could honour Judd for making it a close contest,
without which it would be a pretty dull game.

I am not sure if this is an Australia wide thing, but here in the west
we boo pretty well everything that doesnt go our way, regardless if it
is fair or not.

It may be "his medal", but his opinion was clearly over-ruled by those less qualified to make such decisions.

We are leading the 'not given free kick count'. All up this season we
are -30 . Which means we have given away 30 more free kicks than we have
been given. The highest in the league.

I don't know if you watch many freo games, but I feel like stabbing
those umpires sometimes with what appears to be biased decisions. The
way they ALWAYS level it up in the 3rd and 4th for us with junky free
kicks is so predictable, watch the next FREO game and see this.

I remember sms-ing a friend at home, who confirmed my guess of 10-3.
Many more kicks in total were paid in the second half but more randomly,
(not even I was sure how/why Cox would give away a kick against Polak)
about 12-13 or something similar.

Anyone think that umpires don't look at the half-time stats?

And what a decorated bunch they are too... Ray Wilson and Steve Butler
lol... the two biggest WCE arselickers at the Worst. they both out-vote
Rosco so effectively it becomes The Worst Australian BOG Medal, literally.

I remember Justin Langer being booed after keeping out two overs of
searingly quick, sharply moving, variable height deliveries in a one-day
match at the WACA - since he failed to score a six off any ball.

True, difficult to tell these sort of things without good viewing
position at the cricket, and he may have simply looked stodgy, but still.

Yep
Freo were "playing dirty" - the man rather than the ball
The team that "plays the ball" usually gets more frees than the one
that "plays the man"

It has been a bad season for grape growers
The cool weather has meant grapes haven't filled out (with sugar) and
ripened
Therefore the fruit is quite sour .... ;)

You're going to have to sell that one better. I think both teams were
going awfully hard at the ball. Crowley may have given away the odd one
here and there, but he was being watched like a hawk - I think there was
very little playing of man rather than ball. I would say that a game in
which one side was playing the man would rarely have a tackle count as
even as 56-60.

Besides, three free kicks in a half is astonishing - and this was a game
in which it was decided that at half forward it was *obviously* Pavlich
holding onto Hunter.

There's Digby as well, to make up the balance for the Sundry Times.

Personally I'm pleased that Mark "Who's St Kilda and Hawthorn?" Duffield didn't get a vote - two traversties on the same day would be too much.
